Title: I'm interested to know Post by: KevinN on January 31, 2013, 11:10:48 am I think most people would agree that putting pork at the end of a track is all that matters...but....if you would indulge me.
I would just like to do a little survey...I don't want this to be a discussion...just looking for hard straight answers. Here is the question.... Do you prefer a loose baying dog or a rough catchy dog? Do not read into this...do not add anything...Your choices are simple..... A. Loose baying.....dog bays hog till you get there with Catch Dog. B. Rough Catchy Dog....dog will catch hog when/if he can. Again...for this little survey...just answer A. Or B. that's all I'm looking for. Thank You if you Respond!!! Title: Re: I'm interested to know Post by: crackerc on January 31, 2013, 11:59:08 am AB..... ;D But only because what you call a loose baying dog may bay from 20' away. I won't keep a dog that bays from that distance as here he isn't going to keep the hog bayed...it will run! I want a dog to bay tight and put teeth on a hog if it breaks...not babble behind it to the next county.....
So its not a cut and dried answer......just saying....... Title: Re: I'm interested to know Post by: Mike on January 31, 2013, 12:02:07 pm A

Title: Re: I'm interested to know Post by: HawgStriker972 on January 31, 2013, 12:52:54 pm I prefer "A" but we have both in our yard. Really just depends on the size of the hog whether or not our strike dogs catch before the CD gets there.
So... I'm going with A (sorry pops!) Title: Re: I'm interested to know Post by: chads7376 on January 31, 2013, 12:54:36 pm A

Pup) dog won't! Lol Title: Re: I'm interested to know Post by: Silverton Boar Dogs on January 31, 2013, 04:28:12 pm This answer should be dictated by the type of country your are hunting not your personal preference. I have several types of dogs so I can put down a pack that will fit about any type of area day or night.
A, when it is no problem for the bay to move around. Big properties, open flatter country, and/or day hunt. B when it is important for the bay (hog) to stay put no matter what. Rough country, small tracks of land, and/or at night. Either get gone or just stay back... That's what the catch dogs are for... Of course not all of them do it, but I guarantee when I get there they better get off or get a boot... Now if you have help dogs I guess they need something to do.... ;D Title: Re: I'm interested to know Post by: TexasTransplant on January 31, 2013, 05:29:49 pm B, I hunt short-med range dogs, they get gone I get on their heels...its fixin to be time to get busy!

My damn Hunter dog just spent a week at the vet from getting a piece of his upper jaw shattered from a tusk going thru the side of his head. Let the bulldogs dogs do the catching and the bay dogs go on a huntin'. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work like that, but when I grab the hog and tell them to get out, they better listen. I don't tolerate much rude behavior. ;) Title: Re: I'm interested to know Post by: Caseylee on February 01, 2013, 07:01:49 am AAA!
