Can't help you on that man but a question....how far does your dog travel on a hunt or in a day (after a couple hunts)...when he blows his pads out.....and what terrain you in? Question is for anyone who wants to respond after you help this man on his question.

If he's got wounds on them then let them heel up first. I've used this a couple times and did what the jar told me I had to give my strike about a week or two off until he got back to running as fast as he could but this worked. I kept putting In on twice a day for about week even after he got better.

We hunted a 12 hour hunt yesterday.... He went about 20 miles on the ground... The terrain is rocks, cactus, and goat heads....and he is non-stop when he hunts... I know I over hunted him yesterday... And he needs a couple weeks off... These land around throckmorton us hell on dogs... I will put the tuff-foot on him and give him a brake... I really need another solid strike dog to switch out...

I figured that was the terrain. Mine went 20 and a little over 18 yesterday. I've never had a pad issue...ever...but it's always sand, dirt, mud...bottoms and such.

When you wear a dog out especially a young, that's when class really begins for him.  You hunt him harder and how you want him to hunt and if he's got heart he'll perform.

Have talked to guys that put their dogs on a rough concrete finish and let the dogs feet toughen and they swear it works miracles.

Go straight to the Lumber Yard and buy you a can of Turpentine!
Get you some cotton balls and soak the cotton balls with turpentine and swab the dogs feet with them .  I have seen dogs that were so sore they could not walk that nite put this on them and they are back on their feet in 24 hours like noting happened.  If you will do this once twice a week it will keep your dogs feet in great condition during hunting season .

Make a mixture of 1/2 formaldahyde & 1/2 5% iodine. Put in a bowl or butter dish & put dogs feet in it 5 days in a row.Go hunting & don't worry about his feet.Used to have same problem but this cured it.

I have gone round and round with blowing pads. Tuff foot, iodine, keeping the dog on concrete, nothing seemed to work. Even went so far as making duct tape booties so my dogs could hunt, and that was an epic fail. I started noticing that the pads were fine until the dogs got them waterlogged and then continued to hunt. It seemed like the process of waterlogging got them too soft no matter how tough the dog's feet were when dry. Once waterlogged, the pad was allowed to slough off and leave big sore spots.

Now, I simply slather udder balm on the feet the night before a hunt as well as just before I turn out. Let it really soak in, and the balm will help make the pad repel water. I have noticed a HUGE difference with the use of the udder balm. This past hunt, Lizzie came home with only a mild pad imperfection, whereas without the udder balm she would have been laid up for weeks. I'm a believer, that's for sure.

Cheers
M
