Which would you choose if you could only choose one ?

A tracking dog nose to the ground  ?

are

A winding dog nose in the air ?

If you could not have both .

Yall can tell am bored LOL but its fun to see all the differences in people and our dogs .

I would take a winding dog because I already have ground dogs but if you are saying ground or wind I would say a ground dog because that is what I am most familiar with

I hear ya man.  Its hard to choose between the two very hard.  My dogs do a little of both .  But I guess if I had to choose I sure do like a great wind dog so I guess that would be my choice  .  I owned a great one at one time and he always seemed to amaze me with just how far a dog can really wind a hog .  This dog I swear could taste the air it was really a awsome thing to watch in a open field and then he would be like a missile to the woods and have a hog on the other end 99 percent of the time .

Nose to the ground for me

  nose to the ground all the way . because a nose to the ground kinda dog will still catch the wind  , but a wind dog can't grub out that old trail like a nose on the ground dog  .

Wind dog ....love to see a dog throw there head and book it!

100 percent with Halfbreed...a trail  dog will stick after the hog breaks and the winding dog will not have the inclination to track...

I'm teaming up with them. I like a dog to keep its nose on the ground. Cus if the wind is blowin to them they'll catch it to they don't hav to have their head in the air to wind

Wind dog all the way

a good cur dog IMO will put his nose down and trail a colder track...but once the track heats up the dog will run with his head up and will use his eyes to look for the hog as he runs the track...

Nose to the ground....can't always use the wind

There good points for a winding and nose on the ground dog. I guess it comes down to how you hunt them. We hunt with several dogs and would wont all winding or all nose. Most are nose on the ground dogs but would like to add another good winding dog to be well rounded..

Winding dog for me. I like for our dog to take a hot track. There are lots of sign and hog movement on the place that we hunt and its important to me that the dogs take a fresh track so that hopefully the hog is still on our property when they find it.

Track dog for me because of where I hunt!!!

If I had to choose I would rather have a dog that would drop it's nose and follow a track on the ground, but prefer a dog that can do both.

Ground dog.   My catahoula has trailed tons that wind dogs did not even pick up

Track dog...only way to hunt for big hogs.
