From my understanding (think I did the same w/ ivomec once). It CAN....but nothing the vet can do to reverse it....just have to ride it out. That's what he said about ivomec anyway.

There is a product that can help treat ivermectin toxicity called Liposyn.  Its an IV infusion, seen it work multiple times on several different breeds of varying ages.  7 out of 8 german sheperd puppies survived after being OD'd on horse wormer, had a pit pup the owner was trying to treat for demodectic mange pull through, same with a great dane.  Most vets dont carry it due to not using it much, but it does work wonders.  Safeguard is the same as panacur

I remember when I buddy of mine was loading up bisquits to ivomect his dogs   [ easy method ] and he turned around to set a bisquit down and one of his dogs that was running loose had eat enough to worm a cow and the only thing it did to the dogs was worm the heck out of it . no ill effects whatsoever .  most all the wormers have been tested on dogs that were way overdosed to check for side effects . as a rule wormers are very forgiving .

sometimes dogs are born with that bad gene in them that reacts to ivermectin  .
