OMG. No issues with fleas or anything....but these D*MN ANTS!!!! I SWEAR, it's like, they pick specific places for their mounds that make life for my dogs and I difficult, lol.

So with my chain spot dogs.....the ants like to either build up a mound against their dog houses, or up against their water pails (I use the really big galvanized metal pails). The problem this poses it that for example, when I go to change/scrub the water pail out, this of course disrupts the mound and royally pi$$es the ants off sending them into a frenzy, putting my dogs at risk of getting bit up. VERY AGGRAVATING. Then, I have one big kennel, that has concrete blocks lining the inner perimeter to prevent digging out. I also have a metal water pail in there. I keep pea gravel in there too. Now I have ants building a mound around that pail, and along one of the sides of the kennel. Mind you, I JUST dumped this pail to clean 6 days ago. (I dump/scrub my pails every week on the same day.)

Guess after all my ranting, my question is, what do y'all do/use to combat fire ants??? Keep in mind it's GOT to be safe for my dogs. I've got old school family who told me to: pour oatmeal on the mound, pour boiling hot water on the mound. Anybody ever done this?

I've used Ortho granules in the past but it didn't seem to work as it was supposed to. Sevin Dust maybe? I'm so flustered, it's like a daily battle, lol. They don't bother the dogs it seems, UNLESS the mound gets stirred up of course....but I don't the risk there. Thanks in advance for any helpful tips.

Oh, and ALL of my dogs except my Stag pups eat their kibble within minutes of me pouring it, lol. The stags pose a challenge for me. Had to get crafty and put their kibble bowl into a bigger bowl of water to keep ants away. Works well till my female decides to tip it, haha.

Try that "over n out " stuff. Its a little high but will keep them back all summer.

I've tried a bunch of stuff. The best luck I've had is with the Bayer Advanced fire ant killer it's in a blue plastic bottle. Shake a little on the mound and the next day the mound is dead.

Boiling hot water and liquid soap. Works the same as on wasps, hornets or bees.

A little diesel down the hatch and strike a match always worked best for me! But your grass wont grow back in that spot. From some of your photos it looks like the dogs are in sandy areas so the grass wont be an issue,any diesel residue is ok for the dogs,if they roll in it it will help with the fleas!! Just don't let the E.P.A. come snoopin around!!!

I use a combination of green light powder and amdro

pour gas on the mond then light it on fire an move the dirt around an dig down in the mond to keep the fire going. works every time.

UNDERDOG I will check my local Tractor Supply and see if they have that Over-n-Out Stuff!

If not try homedepot...I think I have gotten it at both tho.

never tried this on ants but I know it works with bees and wasps. It would probably work

I don't have ants. I have Termidor you can buy it online. Not sure about shipping it to LA but a quick Google search will and look where they can ship to. Just a couple sprays around each mound and they are gone. It was made for termites and they track it back into the mound and they all die.

7 dust and a little water worked for me last year they were bad as well at my house i would put it all around the outside of there kennels soaked it down and then poured it on the ant beds and wet them down as well and that took care of them
