Title: RIP Poncho
Post by: Lockedon on July 18, 2009, 12:05:17 pm
Had a good night going for a while.  We had already caught a 250# boar and decided to go to another place that we haven't hunted in awhile.  Dropped the dogs and they took off.  We noticed on the Garmin that Poncho and another dog were getting close to the highway so we got in the truck to go get them.  Got to where they were close to the road and saw that they were heading back out away from the road so we drove on around to get closer to our other dogs.  As soon as we got close to the other dogs the garmin said that Poncho and Tanner had doubled back and were now running down the road.  We made our way to them ASAP but it was too late.  Poncho was dead in the middle of the road.  We're lucky that Tanner didn't have the same fate.  Poncho had just had his first birthday and had already been on close to 100 hogs.  He was very gritty, trash broke, always honored our other dog's bays and had found his own hog a couple of times.  He is already greatly missed.  THIS SUCKS!!!!

PS.  Hogzgonewild - Your dogs produced a great dog that was coming into his own!

Every day more I hunt a dog, is every mile I prefer to hunt from a paved road....  takes too much time to train a good dog  to risk loosing them to a stinking car.
