Title: Question on snake bit pregnant gyp
Post by: Rooster79 on June 04, 2013, 12:56:55 pm
A copperhead crawled into my pens and bit my gyp couple times before she killed it. I found her swelled up that morning and put Benadryl in her and she is good now. She's about 2 months bred and its bothering me that the venom could affect her unborn pups. Do any of y'all know if this could be a problem? Thanks

Same thing happened to me with abulldog and all turned out fine. Had one delivered that looked like it'd been dead for a while, but all the others where fine

Had a cottonmouth crawl in the dog house and bit 4 pups and the mom before she killed it. Took the pups to vet and and asked if it would have any affect on the moms milk and gave pups antibiotics. They were only 2 weeks old but they were fine just had some good scars when they got older

yea if she is two months bred then you will find out in 3-7 days. if she is ok and baggin up good then I wouldn't be too terribly worried about it myself. good luck and hope they all come on out good n healthy
