Will genetic defects be doubled with heavy line breeding and inbreeding such as uncle to niece and father daughter also if have male with genetic defect and make total outcross would still have chance of popping up in your half bloods

Why breed an animal that has genetic defects? I don't see the point. All u get Is pups with genetic defect regardless if it does or does not present it self.

Or should stud b kept from breeding totally

Define "genetic defect".  When breeding, look at ALL attributes of the dogs involved. Look at all the negatives of the dogs involved.  If , in your opinion, the positives outweigh the negatives enough that you think the puppy's will be an improvement over their parents, go for it. Ultimately, however, you have to consider also your name and reputation is riding on the pups you produce. High price to pay for producing sub par animals. Very rewarding when pups turn out well and people are very pleased with them

Hip displaceia and inverted eye lids these r coonhounds I'm talking about and this line is notorious but r just bred again and again because they win

Breeding dogs that continually throw crippled hips is border line unethical, i guess thats a nice way to put it. Folks can justify it by saying the dogs excel in their chosen field, but it aint right to bring dogs into the world that are gonna be crippled up and suffer, just my opinion.

If i knew my dogs had a phsyical genetic defect I would NOT breed them.  However that being said all my dogs seem to have a genetic defect, they are all retarded  ;D

why dont you have them checked by a vet to see if they carry the gene or if they have hip displacia.    If they do then I sure wouldn't breed'm.

I thougt it was that you breed dogs. Cull anything that is not 100% then breed those and keep going until the defects are bred out of the line. To me the worst thing you can do is breed a dog with a known defect. Now that is different than something undesirable. If a dog has a behavior issue you can breed to a dog without it for a stronger hunter but you do not breed the pups with the behavior issue. But as far as genetics you have to work hard to remove those problems. That is like putting boards with termites in the house you are building thinking you can get rid of the termites later. Just use the boards without termites to begine with and save yourself all the headaches.

Most of the dogs I had when I started had a genetic defect.



It was called Suckatthisjobitis.
I've found that there's a huge number of dogs that suffer from this condition.

The ones that didnt have that disease had tripoverem. They didnt really "suffer" from it, till I saw something better was out there.

Most of my current crop has come down with potlickerosis, and they've all caught a huge case of quityerjobandhuntus.

then theres the ever present caintfindporkataffaeventitis...usually coupled with dontcaretoneitheritis....this is a bad one and it seems to run rampant........got a couple in my yard that Im about to "cure" of it today  ;)

  Sounds like an early retirement case to me.

Heck I know of a lot of humans that have these defects also.

I pretty sure its was an unexpected early retirement to them......
