Seriously considering purchasing one. Looking for opinions from those who have used several different models. Which is your favorite and why? 

I have a polaris ranger and I like it; if I could have afforded the Honda Big Red, I may have bought it instead just becuase I really like honda brand.  I wish the Big Red had more clearance, and it is a bit bulky.  Seems like the rangers have different pros and cons depending on the year and model you buy.  They are all a bit different.  I know a guy that had that Kawasaki Terek and he put that thing through heck...I beleive all he did was change from stock to mud tires.  I know a guy who unts in an older model Yamaha rhino, and he really likes his, but it is one of the models that has a tendecy to flip; I think yamaha has fixed it.

I have a rhino and I will be selling it in the next couple months to buy a ranger or a big red. I have hunted with at least a dozen people that have rangers and the outcome is the same.......the Ranger is a true workhorse, i've watched some of these guys drive their rangers through stuff I would have never imagined they would make it through and I still wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen some of it myself. I like my rhino and so far it has gone everywhere i've asked it to but the ranger is just a better fit for me, bigger bed, bigger payload, more power, more leg/cab room. Lacy man on here has a Big Red and it has been nothing but good to him as far as I know....it hasn't stopped when i've been with him anyway........ it is a comfortable riding machine with plenty of power, the seats are more comfortable than the ranger in my opinion but I prefer the legroom of the ranger. If I were you I would go test drive any of the utv's that you are interested in and decide which one is the best option for you. Good luck.

Yea I d agree with the above post, I have a big red and 3 years and no complaints here. I have had good luck with it so far and if you have to follow peachcreek hunting that's sayin alot ;)

Has anyone been around the John deere models?

What engine size are those Rangers that are unstopable? Do you have to go for the biggest engine or will a 500 get 2 adults, 2 bulldogs and a fully stocked ice chest up a steep hill?

I have the 2010 Ranger 500 and it has plenty of power.  I have the bench seat and it holds three adult men, 6 dogs, and a cooler on dog box.  I can put it in 4 low and go up and down just about anything.  One of the reasons I like it so much is the bench seat.  I have two boys that hunt with me; that would be hard to do with two bucket seats.

Im a honda guy but I would go with polaris ranger 500. Friend has one and I love it. Roomy holds a bunch of dogs. Has lots of power and will go thru alot of mud with good tires. I'd love to have one

I have a buddy thats into racing them n .the mud terrain type stuff ill see what he prefers.  I wanna say he has a artic cat 1000 cc    I no your not racing or anything but he seems to know his atv/utvs so ill gove him a shout for ya

my boss has 2 of the john deere 825i and there a hoss i have pulled a 16ft trailer loaded with 600lbs of corn, feeders and stands all around a deer lease with now problem there pretty nasty in 4wd to. i like there ranger dont want none of that gator.

I have the big red and like it. My only suggestion would be snorkel kit it if u get one. That will help prevent the air filter from clogging with dirt. If I was looking to buy today I would be wanting to look at the new Honda pioneer. More clearance more power better styling and faster. This would fix 90% of what issues I have heard people have with the big red.

I really want to check out the Honda pioneer.

My buddy said polaris ranger.  He likes the 900xp

I have been researching for over a year. everyone has a ranger. this is a little bit more expensive with less amenities. Its just simple. when or if I can swing it, this is what I'm going to get. I think it also has a smoother ride then the Ranger. you put the Ranger on 4 low and you jerk around

I have the ranger 800xp and love it. Lots of power big bed and bench seat. Only thing is if u go thru any mud or climb anything with any weight in it always put in low range bc u will burn a belt in hi

I have a arctic cat prowler it has been great and a rough 5 years but if I was in the market now I would buy the yamaha viking big as a ranger and should as reliable as rhino and if you like honda the new pioneer is very nice also

Im all about a good deal cuz. Treat it like a burger and Flip it to move on up!

We have a bunch of these where i work (refinery/tank farms) they are tough machines and big/roomy but honestly after being around both quite a bit I really dont think that one of those could follow a ranger offroad......dont get me wrong, it'll pull anything the ranger will but it wont run (speed wise) like a ranger and i dont think it'll handle the woods as well.....just my opinion.

Gracias for the info.....im considering pickin up one with one of them "warranties" and shiny paint still attached to it.....let someone else deal with it when I break it lol.

I have a Kubota RTV and love it. It's not a speed demon but it is one heck of of workhorse.

I have a Kubota 1140. Its slow, but it will pull about anything. With good mud tires it will go almost anywhere. I have had 6 adults on it going across a mountain with some pretty steep places. It has power steering and hydraulic dump. Only problem is max speed is a little under 30 mph on black top.

I have a Honda Big Red that I really like. I have had a ranger and 2 Kawasaki mules. Neither can hang with the Honda.

I have a 2013 Ranger 500 with 100 hours of torture on it. Have a high rack/dog box on it. 4 people and 6 dogs loaded and its never let me down

I have a John Deere 855 D XUV. didnt like it at first, but now it's loosened up and broke in, i dont think i'd trade it now for anything. It's a hoss , big bed, and aint goin 55 mph, but it'll get you where u want to go.

I have been hearing great things about those John Deere side by sides and the newer big reds. 

Looking for a SXS any of you guys have any updates on the John Deere 855 D XUV do ya still like it?

X2 on that. The farm I work on has one and I love that damn thing.

I havent heard anthing good about the john deere. Air box is low and the belt slips in foot deep water are the main complaints ive heard, hell ive never even seen one outside the dealership. Check out the yamaha viking. Its a beast, just bought one and im nothing but impressed with it.

Buddy of mines dad has ine and it is an awesome little buggy, if i didnt need room for 3 i would have considered one myself.

I was thinking the same about the extra seat i figured i maybe able to make a small toolbox with some boats seats that id be able to make work. Ive heard they awesome from everbody ive talked to about them. I like the fact i could load it up in back of my truck and go hunting with some dogs on th e bed and no trailer 

Go on and get ya one John. U know I got the hook up. Lol. Got some 825's now. Got a used 855 S4. Can get a new 855 pretty quick.

In all honesty I don't know how they would do in the worst stuff but they do get around pretty good. I still say I don't think any bike is better suited to work.

Be sure to look at the new Honda Pioneer 1000. Haven't had mine very long, but so far it has been impressive.

The 500 is an awesome little machine! Not as wide as the fullsized bikes, plenty of power and the options for the back rack are endless. Like i said, i would own one if i didnt need the extra seating room.
