What's everyone use on their dogs? What's recommended? We've never used any, but I would like to purchase one. Just curious as to the pros & cons on them

Get a garmin and don't look back, I had a quick track a tracker maxima and do not regret the move at all the initial investment seems high but I literally won't put my dogs on the ground without it now

I was gonna go garmin. But I was curious as to which on is better the new or the old? New doesn't always mean better in my opinion. Don't want to put out all that money and have something that doesn't make me happy

Well in my opinion I would go with the new if I was you do to the fact in time the older ones will no longer be available. I have the 200 and dc 40 collars so will stay with them till they go out. But if I was just getting one now I would go with the new Garmin will make them good!!!

i like the qiuck tracks for the range and the long battery life and you can always find your dog no matter if alligator gets it or drowns or gets in a hole or just whatever it will pick them up. but as far as hunting garmin is the only way to go i wouldnt even go hunting now without a garmin of anykind on the dogs its just to much of a convienience to have them.
so the pros and cons of the telemery are it will pick up just about always and you dont have to fool with chargers but it dont give you a pinpoint it just gives you a direction
the pros and cons of garmin are it will pick up about 1 mile and it will let you know what kind of dog you have but you have to charge the collar before every hunt and deal with batterys and it would be easier to loose a dog

had the dc 40 and it worked very well. now have the garmin alpha because of the tracking and shock collar combo great for training

Sounds like I might like the quick track. With my new redbone pup, I'm worried about her goin out to far. Guy I got her from said her sire will go out real far. My pup already ventures the yard by herself.

the alpha is water proof and ranges up to miles think the 320 does as well

I love my garmin. Couldn't imagine huntin without it now. But it does drop the dogs every now and then. My quick track has never let me down. Not yet any way. I got to where now I run both on the dogs. But if I had to choose which one I had to use and be more confident in finding my dogs it would b the quick track. Jmo

The garmin is the best tracking system on the market,if something goes down with system,we stay home,i also run wildlife on also.i try to stay with in a thousand yards,but if i cant i have the wildlife on for back up.the garmin dosent work well for me wen dogs are bayed in beaver holes are just deep sided ditches,creeks.my 2 cents

  I would not base my decision on a pup that isn't even out hunting yet. Get a garmin , 95 % of dogs don't hunt well enough to get out of range of it.

Even if the dog was super long range it's always easy to move a little closer to her and you will pick her right back up. We have dogs that are long range and it ain't a problem

I don't believe that's entirely true at least not in my case. I use to be a garmin guy and relied on it 100%. Had some buddies on here say one day it's Gunna fail its not a matter of if but when. They convinced me into a beep beep and I be damn if not that same weekend I started running both one of my collars antennas broke and completely lost the dog and one of my best dogs without the beep beep might not would have found her cause she wasn't back tracking when I lost her

If you want radio telemetry the F&L Electronics, MN 10, is a good one...has a back up battery and is very accurate when looking for the direction of the dog. Also buy the 16,000 hour collars because they also give you more range...

anything can happen. That's those what ifs. The Garmin or beep beep could just blow up in your hands. I was saying if the dog is long range you know where you lost it at and can head in that direction and pick it back up. No tracking system out there is perfect. Tuff skin antennas usually fix that tho. Not trying to make ya mad

Its all opinion I guess and me and all my friends have had great luck with the Garmin!

DC 50's with the dog barking alert sounds like the way to go. I have some fellow hunters that have them and they like this feature.

Not mad at all, just difference in opinion. Lol I like to think my dogs are rangy and if they get half a mile and say I loose em and they re hot on a hogs ass it's not always so simple as to just pull up where I lost em cause there ain't no tellin where or how far they ve gotten since last scene on the garmin. I love the garmin but the insurance of the beep beep definitely is a +

Garmins are nice but I refuse to turn any of my dogs loose without a quick track on them.
