Title: Keeping dogs in the same pin. Post by: jpuckett on July 29, 2013, 08:05:22 pm I was always told that you should have a pin for each dog and never ever pin a pit bull up with my bay dogs. They said better to be safe than sorry... Well, i just dont have enough kennel space for that... Well i figured out that my bulldog is actually one of the least dog aggressive dogs in my kennell! One of my bmc's is pretty moody but other than that it has worked out really well.
Title: Re: Keeping dogs in the same pin. Post by: Black Smith on July 29, 2013, 08:11:17 pm I am glad for you just hope one day the bulldog don't get tired of the bay dogs attitude if he does wont be good for the bay dog!! But it may stay fine I just think it is a gamble!!!
Title: Re: Keeping dogs in the same pin. Post by: Curcross1987 on July 29, 2013, 08:13:51 pm That's a gamble I would never take I would get a chain or something or get rid of something

Title: Re: Keeping dogs in the same pin. Post by: KevinN on July 29, 2013, 09:27:43 pm I've never had an issue w/ male and female together....any breed.
Title: Re: Keeping dogs in the same pin. Post by: YELLOWBLACKMASK on July 30, 2013, 12:20:55 am Yep better watch the bulldog if the cur gets ticked. If the bulldog whips him advertise the cur as a registered catahoula. Lol :D
Title: Re: Keeping dogs in the same pin. Post by: jsh on July 30, 2013, 05:54:20 am Based on experience, I wouldn't do it. I'd separate them.

Post by: WayOutWest on July 30, 2013, 09:39:06 am Stepheng, you can do whatever you want with your dogs but I have seen too many times when something outside your pen and outside your control happens and bulldogs that have got along for years get into it. I'm not tellin you that you can't do it but I personally would never leave them like that if I wasn't there.

Title: Re: Keeping dogs in the same pin. Post by: bmc4me on July 30, 2013, 03:07:28 pm As others have said, you can do it but in more cases than not, it becomes a question of when and not if you're going to come home to a problem.
Just remember that nearly everyone who ever came home to a dead or severely damaged dog, just 1 day prior were in the camp who'd say, "i have no problem keeping my bulldog locked up with my cur/plott/boxer/lab/poodle etc. It only takes that one time and then next time one of these threads pops up, you're the guy warning someone against the practice you now find yourself taking part in. A chain spot or adding a kennel is cheaper than replacing a good dog or two. Hope like heck it works out for you and you never have a problem. Certainly there have been bulldogs to live out their life right along side other dogs and never have a problem. Unfortunately, those are the exceptions to the rule rather than being any sort of norm you should expect. Best of luck. Title: Re: Keeping dogs in the same pin. Post by: dodgegirl on July 30, 2013, 04:30:21 pm Bulldog may not start the fight, but they sure will end it. Keep all my dogs in separate pens.
Title: Re: Keeping dogs in the same pin. Post by: rdjustham on July 30, 2013, 08:43:54 pm My pit house dog and my main sd dont get along at all. 99 percent of the time though im patchin the 3 year old pit and the 8 year old cur dog is fine. Musta got a reject bulldog. Lol
Title: Re: Keeping dogs in the same pin. Post by: YELLOWBLACKMASK on July 30, 2013, 09:14:38 pm Ahhhhhh just get rid of the pit and the curs will settle their own problems amongst themselves.
Title: Re: Keeping dogs in the same pin. Post by: Rodeo on July 31, 2013, 12:24:47 am that's not all true, i have male pits in the same pen and females the same and since all my dogs know that i'm the alpa male. i am real serious no problems with mine. i have a real mean rhodi and pit cross that has his own pen, but what's funny is our momma cat had kittens in his dog box and now protects her and her kittens -- funny

I used to say the same number 2. Well guess what stuff happens that we can't control and accidents happen. Hope it don't bite you in the ass!!! I keep bulldogs in a totally different fenced in area away from other dogs... Title: Re: Keeping dogs in the same pin. Post by: TChunter on July 31, 2013, 08:36:33 am I'm with you... I have two diff bulldogs in two diff kennels with another dog... Mostly because they love each other hahaha one will actually get depressed if the others missing...I really think its all about your dogs attitude and as long as you know your dogs very well I think it's fine. I usually don't pin two dominant pitbulls together but I've had my females together many times... Guess it's luck! Or I trust my dogs too much idk.

How do y'all know what your dogs know, do y'all go pissing on a bush right after your male dog does? The dogs have an order they set themselves. My dogs know I feed them and they know how bad a lead rope can hurt. Maybe I'm just dumb, but that Alpha Male is BS. But then again I feed my dogs, interact with them some when I'm around em, and that's it, I don't go sit outside with em, drink coffee and discuss politics, and scratch each one of em's head for 10 mins, and then walk them around, they're tools and we have a working partnership: I feed em, and they find me hogs. X2 on the alpha studff there BA...... Title: Re: Keeping dogs in the same pin. Post by: chainrated on July 31, 2013, 09:54:50 am Take some good advice. Do Not leave a growly male curdog you care about in a pen with a bulldog (if it's a true bulldog). They may have grown up together and never had a problem with each other and you may even be the "ALPHA MALE" lol. And that curdog may be bad to the bone and done whooped everything around but after about 30 minutes he's gonna be wrecked to the bone and a little while later dead to the bone..
Title: Re: Keeping dogs in the same pin. Post by: UNDERDOG on July 31, 2013, 09:56:45 am Well said Chain.....not if but when.
