Title: Dog Killer .. RIP Hank ! Post by: TexasHogDogs on August 04, 2013, 01:19:35 pm There is a different kind of Dog Killer out there right now . Its called " The Texas Heat".
Set out yesterday morning me and a buddy , Horn blew out the trailer before I could even get my wheeler out . By the time I had it cranked and backed out and cut off we could hear him baying at 950 yds . All the other dogs were headed to him . I get on down close I see Hannah Montanna and Hank Ricks dog running behind about six seven big hogs 180 lbs and bigger I caught the tail end of them as they were running across and highline. Mean time Horn is getting futher and futher on a hog and dogs are scattered every damn were. Finally we have to get out on the highway and go way around to get to the back of the creek we get there Hank and Ricks dogs are 725 in the thickest number 2 known to man and across the creek bayed and Horn is now a 1000 bayed . What a mess . Long story short four hours later I get Horn and my dogs back . Rick is having hell getting his we just cannot get to them. Finally Rick gets his bulldog back then I find his dog Fred that aint looking to good from the heat . Still no Hank and to make matters worse his collar is screwing up . So I head back to take Fred to the truck over a mile away close to two miles away on the way there I find Hank he looks bad real bad . Drawed up and just not good neither is Fred really but Hank is worse . We finally get loaded up and Rick heads home to doctor his dogs . Well this morning he called and Hank passed away during the nite . Fred is pretty drawn up . I sure hated to get that call this morning I feel for old Rick cause Hank was a damn good one honest as they come and just a great dang dog. I just hope Fred is ok he is older and I got a feeling this was his last hunt . I was just dang lucky with mine and got them back all in one piece ! Moral of the story folks is this Heat is no joke and if you got some dogs with big bottom and stick you damn well better know you can get to them cause if you get caught out there past 9 am the odds in your favor are falling like a rock and getting lower each min your dog is out on a hog . I just don't drop 'em if its not below 80 degrees. Even then were dropping at 3:30-4:00 in the morning and calling the dogs in by 8:00 or so. Title: Re: Dog Killer .. RIP Hank ! Title: Re: Dog Killer .. RIP Hank ! Post by: TexasHogDogs on August 04, 2013, 01:39:21 pm Yeah its pretty ruff even at nite right now and its fixin to get worse. It was just one of those cluster puck hunts man from the get go . We had Horn, Hank, Bell , Hannah all on their on hogs all in different directions and every one of them atleast 600 to 750 yds in some of the thickest bloodweeds you ever seen, the only dogs that were together were Jasper and Ricks bulldog from when he turned him loose when they were bayed closer before all this track meet started. Just one of them deals.

You are right tho, if a dog has the heart & will, they just do not know the meaning of quit until it is to late. It is always the good ones too. sorry for your buddy's dog.
