Title: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: JoshH34 on September 17, 2013, 04:24:05 pm As some of y'all may have heard, Monty's little boy has a heart condition and he may have to sale out of a sport they both love. I understand why and everything because he's that kind of a feller. Family first, always. Just curious to see who would be interested in a benefit hunt. Now, I will be the first to admit I've neve put one on nor do I really know how but I'd try my damnedest to put one together with some help if we could get a good one together. Any feed back will be appreciated. Input, comments, I'll take anything. Hell if someone wants to put one together and needs help I would do that too. I just think this is something our dogging community and family can do to help out a brother in need. Let me know what y'all think and we will go from there. Also want to say thank you to Monty for allowing me to hunt with him off and on the past several years, never a dull moment for sure!
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: Jmesonp1 on September 17, 2013, 04:39:14 pm bad time of year for a lot of people to do a hunt. I would be more than willing to do the hunt that monty puts on in the winter and donate all my entry and hogs to a benefit. It may not help them now but come winter im sure it would be just as appreciated.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: Kid7 on September 17, 2013, 04:49:15 pm Only problem I can think of with having it this winter is deer season for some people. I'm all about hunting wen it's cold but it's hard to steer around deer hunters for me.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: CutNShootHD on September 17, 2013, 05:18:06 pm The Justin Grimes benefit bay contest had a pretty good turnout.... May be something to consider??
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: JoshH34 on September 17, 2013, 05:45:09 pm I would definetely think before deer season. Prob in October sometime.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: MrsLouisianaHogDog on September 17, 2013, 06:26:07 pm Can someone that knows in some detail (not every little detail, the basics) what the situation is PM me? I'd love to try and help if I can in a way I know how but I'd need some more info on what exactly's going on. Sending MANY positive thoughts to the Bennet family!

Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: heavyhitter89 on September 17, 2013, 06:57:32 pm I could get my team and some guys that are not on the board to get a few teams togather to hunt it, I think its a great idea, it may be hot right now but when it comes to this kind of situation I know I could still get about 3 or 4 teams to enter, pm me and let me know

I'd love to try and help if I can in a way I know how but I'd need some more info on what exactly's going on. Sending MANY positive thoughts to the Bennet family! Me to pm me or text 936-671-2175 we would love to help and support/ promote them!Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: KevinN on September 17, 2013, 07:04:09 pm I think this time of the year...your better off having just a 1 nite hunt....maybe a 12 hour type deal.
I know Monty's up in Paradise but a more centrally located weigh in would bring more teams. I believe there is a but Station in Corsicanna or Ennis. That would be an ideal weigh in spot....IMO. Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: 7Mhunter on September 17, 2013, 07:11:02 pm If yall get something put together i know where you could get shirts made to sale cheap( phone a friend) and i can promote yall threw our pages im sure 553 people plus this board would love to support it! I'd love to help out i could put one together but im in Angelina county lil far from Monty.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: TinyTexasCowgirl on September 17, 2013, 07:15:34 pm I've got a really nice yearling colt that I'd donate to raffle if there would be any interest.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: TinyTexasCowgirl on September 17, 2013, 07:17:29 pm I've also got 50lbs of smoked deer links that we can use for a link supper.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: JoshH34 on September 17, 2013, 07:28:04 pm I wouldn't mind a centrally located weigh in but of so I think a 24 hour hunt would be better. Anyone who has put on a hunt and would like to help out and get me pointed in the right direction pm me. Like I said ive never done anything like this so I'm kinda blind with most everything and I'd definetely want it all to go smoothly.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: KevinN on September 17, 2013, 07:35:07 pm I just don't think 24 hours will work. No one is gonna hunt from 10am-6pm anyway probably. Just too hot.
Need to keep the entry fees low as well. You would rather have a lot of teams, you will make good money on the hogs that way. Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: 7Mhunter on September 17, 2013, 07:58:16 pm There is also a buy station located in nac!
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: fonzie on September 17, 2013, 08:04:04 pm A 24hr hunt in October would be great! The weigh I'm should just be a bills where it is all the time makes it allot easier for everyone... Everyone knows where it's at and bill has experience with these type of things..
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: Muddogkennels on September 17, 2013, 08:16:34 pm I'm really busy but i could make time to hunt for it! just keep updating us on all the info and times..
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: fonzie on September 17, 2013, 08:29:32 pm If all else fails why don't we do this.... Allot of kill hogs and leave them to lay I'm on of them... Let all for the month tie our hogs and donate them... Note not all have a trailer but I'm sure we all know someone who does... I have a small one and can help out.. So what saying is for the month of October let keep our hogs live and donate them... I'm sure we can work something out at the buyers to make the checks out to Monty's family... Or of Monty agrees we can take them to his pen and when he has a bunch he can sell them
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: hoghunter71409 on September 17, 2013, 08:44:49 pm Any reason why we cant accept team money now, start selling shirts now, start raffles now, and do the hunt right after deer season? You could present him with donations and proceeds now, along with cash from hog sale after the hunt. Get with local vendors at Uncle Earls (March 2014)and see if the would be willing to help donate a portion of proceeds.
Most hospitals take an initial down payment and then partial payments until complete. Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: heavyhitter89 on September 17, 2013, 08:47:32 pm I have ten hogs here in my pen now that I would be willing to donate, there from 30 pounds to 250 pounds. If it comes to that situation then let me know an I can work someway to these ten to a buyer and if we catch more from now until then, I hate hearing things like what he is going through and im willing to help out in anyway that I can possibly help out just keep me updated and let me know.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: heavyhitter89 on September 17, 2013, 08:51:54 pm I know a lot of people that would probably be willing to donate for this, its a great reason for donations. Pm me info on what I can do as far as getting donations and things like that, I can get started right away. We are more then willing to do what it takes to help him get through this.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: 7Mhunter on September 17, 2013, 08:59:20 pm Some one draw up a shirt and i can see how much cheaper i can get them! You could also do a skeet shoot or a ranch rodeo and get someone to donate buckles.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: KevinN on September 17, 2013, 09:07:04 pm Still think Ennis (if they would do it) would get a bigger draw. Within an hour and a half drive from Ennis....Denton, Tyler, Palestine, Waco, Stephenville, Mineral Wells, Decatur and all towns inside that circumference. Just saying.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: 7Mhunter on September 17, 2013, 09:09:58 pm You could also do a baby oiled pig chase for the kids, raffle exc.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: heavyhitter89 on September 17, 2013, 09:12:43 pm I could possibly get a band that I know to play live music as well, its texas country music but they are pretty good.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: hogmantx1979 on September 17, 2013, 09:13:46 pm I am willing to help anyway I can just let me know I have several connections for donated items. 4099208330 Monty hope your Son and your Family are all well and Prayers sent
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: sdillard on September 17, 2013, 09:41:44 pm Can someone set up an donation account at a bank for them? I'm sure a lot of people that couldn't hunt would donate money. I know I would.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: cantexduck on September 17, 2013, 09:50:12 pm Sorry to hear about this.
Bow season starts next weekend so deer hunters are in the woods. Set up a hunt for right after deer season. That will give you time to organize it. Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: hogmantx1979 on September 17, 2013, 09:54:26 pm There is an online site that can be set up for this family where people can go online and donate straight to the family. My wife who has done many benefits said she would gladly set it up and help in anyway she can. She has even hosted a benefit in which Walt Cade from Texas storage wars came to due the live auction. Just let us know what y'all think.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: stepheng on September 17, 2013, 11:19:38 pm I have known red since the day the little number 2 was born, and I have known monty longer than anyone on this forum. Hog hunting is what that kid lives for, he was asked what he wanted for Christmas last year and instead of toys and stuff kids normally want all he wanted was a new head lamp. I was on the hunt when monty let him go to his first bay all I could see was a huge smile and no fear in his eyes acted like a pro, he has probably caught more hogs than a lot of people on this forum. Everytime I go to the house red meets me in the driveway he knows as much about every dog on the place as monty does, and don't forget them twin firecracker sisters of his. Josh holler at me we will damn sure get something together cause it will kill em both if they have to sale out. Monty tell red Stephen said hes got this aint no step for him he can kick it in the butt. Me and red have one rule when we hunt together no sleeping till hunt is over so red hunt just started stay awake and lets get er done.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: charles on September 17, 2013, 11:39:43 pm Them deer hunters can just deal with it. Its for a good cause and if the tides were reversed, they would do the benifit. It wont hurt them to stay hm a day or two, aint like there gonna miss a deer and nvr see it again. :P that boy of montys needs help n them goat hunters dont like it, then shame on them.
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: JoshH34 on September 18, 2013, 07:35:13 am Thank yall everyone for their comments, suggestions, etc... 7M, have you received a tshirt design yet? If not, I have a buddy that is a tatoo artist that would draw me up something, let me know. The more I think about it too, maybe a hunt after deer season would work best. Mostly due to the fact that Im not sure how long it will take me and whoever else to get one together and a month away is a short time IMO. I am writing things down and will set a for sure date hopefully within a week, I would still like more input on a date, what people would prefer best.... Also someone said keep entries low, and that is fine with me, maybe 200 bucks for a 4 man team, thats 50 a piece, I think its reasonable. I am going to look through some hunts that have been previously posted and get some rules here and there. If anyone wants to holler at me I work in my office so its hard to talk during the day, but you can email me or text me through the day Joshua.Herron@weatherford.com 940 366 2460.

Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: MrsLouisianaHogDog on September 18, 2013, 11:28:17 am I have raised good chunks of money to help folks in need in the past, and auctions work wonders as well!! I did it all online through a forum. I started a thread for the raffle, explained the situation, provided rules, and a Paypal address that was created for the individual in need, so that when the auction was over, the folks who won the items/goods could pay directly to the beneficiary. Folks donated any and everything you could think of, and when all was said and done, we raised close to $2,000! Just a thought, as every bit helps!

Post by: heavyhitter89 on September 18, 2013, 11:54:28 am that is a dang good point, just if everybody donated just $5 that' would be $31425. That alone would be a huge help. And im sure that majority of us would donate more then that. I think that is the best idea yet...
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: muleman on September 18, 2013, 12:24:13 pm someone will have to open an acct for him or get him to. if it is linked to paypal even better. Because its for an individual, and not for benefit of the general public its not considered a charity so doesnt have to meet the same guidelines. Mr. Bennet or a family member would be best for opening the acct. I think we can raise a good bit of money for Mr. Bennets boy. I have never met Mr. Bennet in person but anyone that ever speaks of him speaks highly.

Post by: heavyhitter89 on September 18, 2013, 01:41:30 pm Mr. Bennet I think highly of you and I understand you can sell your dogs and your gear to help your boy out. I have a two kids of my own and would do anything in the world for them. But In my opionion as much as I hear about how good of a guy you are and you are always helping somebody out in some way. I think its time for us to repay the favor, im a firm believer that the more you help out in life the better you will be treated. I read a lot of your post on here and even tho I have not met you personally I would still be willing whatever I can do to help out. I went thru something similar with my dad a few years back and it was hard on the hole family. I had good people across the state helping us out, people that I never knew in my life, it helped us out in so many ways, So I only feel right helping out when people need help especially in these circumstance. Please keep us informed as much as possible and let your boy know that ill have our church say a prayer for him and your family as well.

Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: heavyhitter89 on September 18, 2013, 03:14:59 pm yea but if you just try to throw a hunt togather all of sudden usually leads to a disaster or disappointment. im with you id rather do a hunt then just donate, but I think in this case its gonna be hard to find many teams to hunt. I wish it was so easy to just get competititon started
Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: JoshH34 on September 18, 2013, 03:59:50 pm I just dont think one could be thrown together in a week, and I also work next weekend so it definetely wouldnt work for me if I was planning it. There are 3 dates that I have in mind. October 26th, January 18th, or January 25th. Excluding deer season weekends, those are the best dates i can have to set it up. I like the fact of having it after the season, but also agree that 4 months is a long time. October weekends are a little warmer, I work 2 Saturdays during October and am in a wedding 1 saturday as well, so the 26th is all that would really work if I am doing it. Hate that its set up that way, but I also think I would need atleast a month to get everything going good because like Heavyhitter says I couldnt agree with more that throwing one together leads to a disaster, disappointment, confusion, and makes people look like idiots IMO. i want this to be set up well and run smoothly. I want people to not have to come to a check in but to have their teams money, names, team name, side pot money, everything in place no later than 4-5 days before the hunt if you do not come to check in in person. I have made a set of rules for the most part already and if you have been to Randy Bumpers or read them, theyre damn near the same. I have never been to it, but heard its always exceptional and runs good and never have heard anything negative on their rules.

Guys, weve all got dogs that have been slowed down and chained up since last winter. Why don't we do a benefit bay, to get the dogs out of the pen and fired up??? Do the bay now and do the hunt after deer season? Lets find a roping arena in the dallas area (Central area for everyone), and make this happen! Whos the go-to bay pen guy? Lets get him in to help organize. If we get a roping arena, weve got turnouts (Bucking chutes), parking, seating, and lights. Im in Abilene, and have the perfect spot I would be willing to donate, but most of yall are east texas guys. Paypal is an awesome idea as well. Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: Black Smith on September 18, 2013, 07:05:50 pm I think you can do a baying or a hunt. But you still need to set up a account for people like me you work 24 hour call with no schedule can donate. I have been on this job 21 days and still may have a week or more till I get off and will only be off 7 or 8 days. I know I am not the only one that works like this so that's why I like the account idea. Mr. Bennet I will pray for your family!!! I had a grand daughter that had a similar heart problem that fixed itself. Thank god hope the same works out for you and your family.

Post by: M Bennet on September 19, 2013, 12:26:10 am Hello , this is Jennifer. Im Monty s wife.
I want to saying......well really i dont know were to start. I guess I'll start with saying A very big thank you. I do not have the words to say how very blessed monty and I are from the kind words, well wishes, and prayers that have been sent our way.for those of you who don't know Kegan, let me tell you a couple of things. Kegan has always been what we have affectionately called him our grouchy old man stuck in a kids body. we always knew that Kegan didn't play like most little kids. He never played with toys until we got him a bull riding set and hog hunting toys. when he finally was old enough to go hog hunting was around the same time he started muttin busting. Monty and I watched our son finally find his place in the world. He went from this shy, withdrawn, unsure little boy to this bigger than life kiddo. When he got into school is when we realized how much trouble he was really having. So after alot of doctor s and testing. ... they finally diagnosed Kegan. Kegan will be 10 on October 19. We were hoping that we could get to his 10th birthday without having his 10th surgery. That's still our preyer. With all of his struggle s and corks, Kegan is 1 of the best kids you will ever meet. If I do say so myself... We are blessed beyond words. He still bosses his twin sisters around at every chance. He says its cuz he is older than the sisters as he calls them. There is nothing in the world that matters more to Kegan van hog hunting. Except for maybe his mama lol. I will close this in saying that we're grateful beyond words. I thank you all. My God bless u all. Truely my cup runith over Jennifer Bennet Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: chads7376 on September 19, 2013, 12:45:45 am I had the pleasure of hunting with Monty and Kegan a year or so ago on the wounded warrior hunt up there and I will say they are some of the best folks I have ever hunted with. Both of them are just as nice as anyone can be and Kegan is a heck off a hand in the woods.
Someone get an account set up for them and share it on here. I have a feeling we are not the only ones that feel that way about them... Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Truely my cup runith over Jennifer Bennet Anytime! I dont know y'all but Monty helps a lot of people on here now its our turn to return the favor! Title: Re: How about a Bennett benefit hunt? Post by: JoshH34 on September 19, 2013, 07:54:21 am Alright ladies and gents would yall rather go for October 26th or wait til January to do a hunt? If someone else wants to do a baying thats great too! Either way we go I think there will be plenty of support and people showing up to do the hunt either month or the bay. Would like to get a better idea of when people would rather do it.
