Title: Re: One Dog Out Post by: rdjustham on October 07, 2013, 02:09:18 pm Most of the guys i hunt with run only one or at the most two out at a time. We just use Fl curs, rough short range catchy dogs. Most will try any hog when they are younger but with age experience will only try what they can handle, unless there are two there.

Catahoula bmc ridgeback 3 ridgeback/pit crosses. Have 2 deerhound cross pups that are catching well allready that I think are going to add some speed and size to my pack. Lots of fuys run dane crosses that do well.
Title: Re: One Dog Out Post by: Shotgun wg on October 14, 2013, 08:45:57 pm I have a ridgeback x pit that can and will find and catch his own hog by himself. I don't like the odds in this situation so I run 2 rough dogs with him. They can find one as well so they all work good together.

Them old school dogs are hard to find these days. No every body is selling Florida dogs & wouldn't know a true one if it bit them. I love my cur / pit crosses. I know I can take one dog to the woods & catch any hog they stop. I very seldom hear a bay. If I do I know it's a rank one & they catch when I get there. ;)

Either way sounds like you have some good dogs. Title: Re: One Dog Out Post by: TazD on October 29, 2013, 03:56:35 pm I have had a couple. Catahoula named Bosco. Short range (250yds) and all catch. Florida Cur named Ringer. Long range (500-700yds) all catch. A Florida Cur/Pitbull I bred out of my Bo and Zena dogs named Kabar, that my buddy had. Medium range (300-500yds) all catch.
I might have some here in about 4mo. Florida Cur/Pitbull!!! >:D (http://i719.photobucket.com/albums/ww199/GuyD/PC240001.jpg) (http://s719.photobucket.com/user/GuyD/media/PC240001.jpg.html) (http://i719.photobucket.com/albums/ww199/GuyD/006-2.jpg) (http://s719.photobucket.com/user/GuyD/media/006-2.jpg.html) (http://i719.photobucket.com/albums/ww199/GuyD/IMG950710_zps7029041f.jpg) (http://s719.photobucket.com/user/GuyD/media/IMG950710_zps7029041f.jpg.html) Title: Re: One Dog Out Post by: TheRednose on October 30, 2013, 12:17:35 am Hey Taz sure do like the looks of the second one there I'm guessing ringer. All of them look real good. So you already have the fla/pits?
Title: Re: One Dog Out Post by: Florida Curdog on October 30, 2013, 08:47:20 pm Was Bosco a catahoula of a Florida leopard ? Them catahoulas from what I have seen usually ain't as rank & more likely to bark on trail. I like the looks of Ringer what was he out of ?
Title: Re: One Dog Out Post by: TazD on October 31, 2013, 09:10:02 am Bosco was out of a buddies Fl Leopard Cur bred to a Cat from Texas. He had no bark at all. Ringer was from the same buddy who got him from his granddad down in Sebring. He was out of cattle stock from there. They did not like him cause he caught and did not bay!! I jumped all over him when he asked if I wanted him for $125!!! One man's trash is another man's treasure!!! They should of hunted him cause he was a good one!! He's not around any more, but I did get pups out of him bred to a daughter out of my Chance dog bred to Bo's sister, Josie. My buddy has 4 of them!! All RCD!!! They do not get hunted enough to make them hunters so all they do is short range and catch. But I guess that they make my buddy happy because I tried to get one back and he won't give me one!!!! Lol
