dont make the sides slope down towards the back. it gives you piece of mind knowing you dont have a dog hanging over the side. im redoing mine. put carpet on the floor. dont use cattle panel sides. their leg might fall through it. have something to stop their feet from sliding off the back when climbing hills. use short dog clips so its harder for them to fall off or get tangeled up with each other. the 2 dog leads work good but im going to put permanent clips on.

I don't know what the width is on your bike, but I would suggest that you dont make it any wider than your bike. It'll be harder to manuver through the woods. jmo

Here's a few pics of mine, the box is wood sitting inside a metal basket, I can take it off very easy if needed, i'm thinking it's about 3 years old now and it has held up great, can hold  3 strike dogs and the bull dog rides in the basket on the front, those baskets are from TSC and were about 165.00 if im not mistaking....hope this could help....W.D.............

mine isnt tall enough and its an inch or 2 narrower than my fenders and make the corners rounded or do two 45 degree welds. it keeps vines and junk from hanging up on it. ive had a dog get his toenail hung in some small expanded metal before.

here is mine. THE BAY RACER I have spent many hours totally reinforcing the sub frame with 3/4 round bar. The front rack is for the Cd and the back can hold 2 dogs. It sticks out kinda far in the back but Iam going to try it for a while. If it doesnt work I can just cut it off and remount it a different way. I had to put beefer shocks on the front and back to prevent sagging. been easier for me to go ahead buy a 4 wheel drive but already have been hunting off it and already Paid for.  besides around here dont have to worry about mud much. all I have to do is put the plywood and carpet.

It's not a problem, just easier for me to paste the link, than it was to re-type my posts on the newer thread. ;)

here are a couple we use,  the box on the quad loaded toward the front of the trailer is made out of aluminum that we had powder coated.  The box on the second quad is made out of Plywood and lined with carpet.  Both quads have a flat platform to sit on or wind dogs off of.

here is a picture of the front of the first quad loaded on the trailer.

I took a grinder to that metal hump on the rack that the wooden box went on to allow the box to hang over a bit and sit flat.  THe hoop was welded to the crossmember so there wasnt an exposed whole left.  I painted over it to prevent rust.

Bigworm Fabbed the alluminum box on the articat and allowed the metal hoop to stay in place as the box is easilly removable.  THe Box was linexed ( I made a mistake and said power coated in my previous post).  The linex keeps the metal cool and helps dampen the noise.

I prefer the wood box cauase it is taller and I made it a bit deeper,

We have hauled four men, and six dogs at one time on the Artic Cat quad.  those things are beasts.

Yea me and a friend of mine made it. Its nice to carry dogs, hogs, feed buckets, fence material, ice chest...u name it. The rack on top was built for the quick track bag to sit in along with flash lights or whatever. I have really been pleased with it.

mILLER THAT IS NICE BUT YOU HAVE TO WATCH OUT FROM KNOCKING OUR TEETH OUT. A GUY I KNOW KNOCKED HIS TEETH OUT ON A GUN RACK THAT WAS TOO HIGH. HE WAS TRYING TO RUN THROUGH A CREEK BED FAST THEN  CAME SUDDEN STOP ON A SUBMERGED STUMP. POP! TOOK HIS FRONTS AND DIDNT EVEN ASK. .

I like the rack muleman, do you put something over the expanded metal?  I have seen dogs get their toe nails caught in it and man it is an ugly mess before you can get em un-done.  I like that seat you made though, passenger appreciates it I am sure.
