Title: Dog Superstitions.
Post by: Hutch33 on November 01, 2013, 12:08:37 pm
Throughout the years I'm sure we have all heard some neat "old time" sayings...

-A knot on the top of a dogs head means they're smart
-One glass eye means a dog has an evil streak.
-A white spot on the back of a dogs neck means it will be a hard working dog.
-If you spit in a dogs mouth they will know you're their master.

Not saying any of these are true or false, there's always an exception to all of these sayings. But it's interesting to hear "the rules" that some folks go by when picking a dog.

Wondering what are some sayings that yall have heard?

Since he's use to his own smell, a bath can throw him off a bit, especially soap or shampoo scent residue.

Pee on a dogs head and he will love you.

Pee in his food bowl and it will naturally worm him.

Pee in the back of truck and he will load up

Pee on his tracking collar and he will hunt harder.

Pee down the side of your leg and he can track back to you.

If he is stolen they will bring him back because he stinks like pee.

Also heard pee dogs that dont hunt are susceptible to lead poisoning easily.

Just a couple of the old time hints I live by.   ;D

Old time dog man told me to count the hairs in the moles under their chins, cant remember the rule now, something along the lines of 1 hair was no good,2 hairs was always a consistent dog and 3 hairs would take time to turn out but would end up being the best in the pack, ill try to find out from him on that one.

Rockin Roo, I was told something about the hairs too.  Something along the lines of the more hairs sticking out of moles the smarter the dog is. Not sure if it's truth or not.

I heard all this too. If its 3 hairs its too smart for his own good. I wouldn't cull or keep a dog based on this, but that's just me.

Between the spitting in their mouths and peeing on their heads, why not combine them and pee directly in a dogs mouth to be sure you've really got your bases covered.

If you chew a lot of tobacco and drink a good amount of the ol fire water like myself, your pee may have worm eradicating powers. So there may be scientific grounds to let er rip right at a dog lol  >:D
