Title: Honda Pioneer
Post by: Rooster79 on December 11, 2013, 09:02:51 am
My new Honda Pioneer was delivered yesterday. So far I love it. Quiet idle, smooth ride, steering is fairly easy. I like the automatic transmission compared to the old Ranger belt trans. Shifts are smooth. My favorite is the dump bed that transforms into 2 extra seats. That will be very handy in hauling my youngins or guests around the ranch. My only complaint is lack of storage compared to the Ranger. It's not a hotrod but it has plenty of go for me. I got it to 40 pretty quick with another 300 lb man in the passenger seat. I will be using it for mainly ranch work and hunting. It seems like it will be perfect for me.

Thanks, this is my first Honda atv but after seeing family and friends abuse them for years without failure, I know they are dependable. Hope this one holds up as well

I've been wanting one of those. Is the roll bar over the bed removable?

I've been debating on getting one this next year...

My only concern is that it doesn't have a low gear..

My buddy just bought one so once he breaks it in I'll have to get him to hook up my hog trailer, load up a few fatties and see how it pulls up the hills..  ;D

Let us know how yours does!!!

Yes it looks like the roll bar can be unbolted and removed. I think instead I will keep it on, put a chair in the bed and that bar would make a good gun rest to take some long range shots on coyotes

That transmission should be the wave of the future. Tired of crossing a deep creek and having the belt start slipping on my Gator

U won't have any issues as far as power goes without having selectable low range. I have a big red. Same trans and engine u have. I have yet to find a situation I didn't have enough power and stall out. I have pulled trailers hauled loads of people and dogs in bad situations and worked mine hard. I would recommend adding a snorkel kit. Not so much for water but for dust. It will lengthen the life of ur air filter drastically. In turn increasing the life of the motor.
