Title: Dog question for the pros Post by: Peachcreek on January 02, 2014, 10:17:04 pm I have a hound cross gyp that is right at a year old that has some screwy stuff going on with her back legs. She runs screwed up and looks weird in the ars end. It is like both back feet are twisted outward and she has some big knots or joints on the inside of her knees. She stays skinny as a rail but is fed double what the other dogs get. I am currently trying to get her healthy looking before i make any decisions about her. Hoping muscle may help to straighten things up. I was just wondering if any of yall have had a dog grow out of a condition like this or if she needs to go to a pet home ;)

Title: Re: Dog question for the pros Post by: UNDERDOG on January 03, 2014, 02:01:21 am Not sure if it's dysplasia or not but something sure didn't develop right or ain't built right. I don't think she will get better at this point.

I don't think she will get better at this point. x2...she appears to be cow hocked pretty bad. this usually means a weak rear...open hocked means too strong of rear action meaning more muscle...cow hocked dogs won't have the power needed for speed and agility... and for loss of weight I do not know what it could be but if she lacks that fine undecoat then she could be burning lots of calories trying to keep warm...
