Post by: Deepforkhogger on February 07, 2014, 10:46:40 am
Would like some info on the breed. Do they make good CDs , do they lock down . Also does anyone know average price for pup and wat kind of personalities do they have, does it compare to a pit or wat do they compare to ? Also any pics that y'all would like to post would be appreciated!

I'm pretty sure they are some pricey dogs. I believe mrsLouisianahogdogs owns a couple of em.

They do go into hold just like our bulldogs do. At least ours do. They are typically not cheap. That's why there's not too many folks using them for work. We do.
They don't really compare to anything. They are their own entity. Prey drive through the roof, very dominant personalities that must be kept in check, a mind of their own, and goofy on top of all that, lol. With a dedicated handler they make amazing working dogs.

They can be dog aggressive too. Remember they are a form pit terrier developed by crossing the bulldog to terriers. There was a guy who had a breeding program for hunting bull terriers. They did not look pure bred though.

That's what I was getting at with how they are very dominant. They need a firm handler. One of four we have here is male dog aggressive, but they are all dominant with other dogs in general.

But they are a HOOT to own,,, they dont do anything like a regular dog. They almost act like they are trying to make you chuckle.  From coming down stairs , to i dont know,, its like they are spring loaded, they just bounce. But like stated, can b dog aggressive. Never had working bull terriers, just as pets.

Ive had two when I was younger. They have a good prey drive, are pretty athletic, and are pretty smart. They can have weird compulsive obsessive problems from what i hear but I have only seen one like that first hand. From what i have seen they can be dog aggressive but are much easier to break of it than a bulldog. They sure are fun and goofy, I really liked mine.

They were not quite as athletic as my bulldogs, and no were near as intense but I dont think such a breed exists that is. I think they could probably make good catch dogs but most tend to be pricey.
