Title: Abscess on foot Post by: SaltyhoggerJr on February 26, 2014, 10:25:16 am It is what is says on top of dogs foot, it's not swollen now it's been popped (by the dog) and it's just a whole now. They just heal up themselves? Any tips on a faster heal?

Title: Re: Abscess on foot Post by: justincorbell on February 26, 2014, 10:40:55 am keep it clean and flushed with fresh water, how big are we talkin a dime sized hole or quarter or somewhere in between? regardless if it were my dog I would flush it with water at least once a day preferrably twice and spray a good amount of vetericyn or apply cut n heal to it after each wash. that should clear it up for you.

Title: Re: Abscess on foot Post by: justincorbell on February 26, 2014, 11:23:06 am QUIT USING PEROXIDE!!!!! peroxide cleans out dirty wounds BUT it slows down the healing process drastically, peroxide is great for disinfecting a wound initially but not good at all for the healing process.

I had one go into my leg one day and didn't even feel it . then several days later my leg had a festering bump on it and I got to mashing and squeezing on it for a few days and eventually one about an inch and a half slid out .
