Title: UTV hunters Post by: Cutter Bay Kennels on September 08, 2009, 09:57:14 am For those of you that are hunting with Rangers, Rhinos, or other similar UTVs, would you please post some pics of your setups. I am interested in possibly going this route, and I want to see options. Also, if you have any advise as to what you would do differently, that would help.
Thank you in advance, Josh Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: Eric on September 08, 2009, 10:01:53 am Only thing I would have done different is AC and bucket seats.

The ranger is about as tough of a rig as I have ever seen! The room, comfort, and the 4x4 all wheel drive is great. I've added a back seat and a front rack to mine. You can also tow a trailer if you want.
Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: Circle C on September 08, 2009, 10:37:18 am I don't know that the Mule is in the same class as a Ranger or Rhino, as they seem to be more sporty/ high performance and the Mule is slow and rough, but here is the setup I have.
2009 Mule 4010 gas Trans 4x4. 26" Mudlite XTR, 12" SS wheels, 2" lift kit, Warn 3500# winch, metal roof with spray in bedliner. (http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p204/ccoughran/DSC01957.jpg) First mod was some tunes. (http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p204/ccoughran/DSC02086.jpg) In order to set it up for my hunting style, I made a few accessories. First is a couple of high seats in the rear, and 5 sets of snaps for the dogs. The seats are on swivels, so the rider can face any direction. (http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p204/ccoughran/DSC_0025.jpg) The other accessory for the dogs is the front rack. (http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p204/ccoughran/DSC_0005.jpg) (http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p204/ccoughran/DSC_0009.jpg) (http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p204/ccoughran/DSC02689.jpg) Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: Eric on September 08, 2009, 10:45:05 am I think they call Mules, Kubotas, Gators, ect UTVs because they favor the utility side and are gov at 25mph. The Rhinos, Rangers, Terxy, RZRs usually go under RUVS because they favor more recreational riding and go over 25mph.
IF that matters to any one... ;D Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: Bump on September 08, 2009, 10:45:35 am The Ranger is very smooth and mine will run up to about 50 mph. Only thing I dont like is the crew does not turn very sharp.
The bed has holes and you can buy fittings to anchor accessories....like the dog box. A few pictures. He is an azz but it is easy hunting , so I tolerate him. Beats a 4 wheeler hands down anytime. It is nice to be able to carry all the dogs, gear, cut box and cooler in one thing.

Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: dabutcher on September 08, 2009, 04:20:54 pm can you still get to the hood with that front rack you got Bump??
Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: Bump on September 08, 2009, 04:32:19 pm can you still get to the hood with that front rack you got Bump?? You have to unscrew two bolts on each side and slide it off. Doesnt take but a second. The frame is bolted to the cage. Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: dabutcher on September 08, 2009, 05:44:28 pm i found a 08 Ranger XP used with only 604 miles for dirt cheap. it's camo and got a winch and xtreme brushguard and metal roof already. i asked cause i like the way yours is set up. this one isn't a crew but i think i'm gonna try and get a front rack rigged up like that.

Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: Russ on September 09, 2009, 02:22:02 pm We use one as a recovery mobile for getting hogs we stick in spots off the road and it's a godsend for those times, esp. in the brush and wetland areas we got down here. Usually the only thing in it besides dead pigs is a 120qt. ice chest that doubles as a high seat/beverage storage O0
Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: clint on September 09, 2009, 08:55:36 pm Here is our rig,,, it is a Ranger 700XP.
Got 28'' ITP mudlites on it. 4,500 lb. winch, and a custom aluminum bar across it with snaps on it to snap the dogs and where they can't fall out. Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: matt_aggie04 on September 19, 2009, 08:51:11 am This was my first Mule, I built this bed shortly after I bought it. I really liked this little mule but my new one has more power and power steering etc. I never found a place this mule couldn't go.

Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: matt_aggie04 on September 19, 2009, 09:03:54 am That was a goodlooking ride. I didnt know you was that handy! Only when I get REAL motivated haha When I sold the little mule to buy my new one I took the bed off which mounted just like the factory bed and sold it to jasonmac who put it on his artic cat prowler with a little modification. I have been thinking real seriously about building a flat bed for my big mule..... Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: lonewolf on September 20, 2009, 12:33:03 pm Just like to get where I want to go! It pulled through this with no help. The creek was up and could'nt cross where I normally do.
Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: ETHHunters on September 20, 2009, 12:37:14 pm txmaverick im with you that dog is wondering what in the he// is going on! I think he's thinking he's done it this time ;D
Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: matt_aggie04 on September 20, 2009, 12:38:14 pm I know there are tons of die hard Polaris fans out there but I have never been around one that I thought ran worth a crap even brand new. They are noisy just sound like a bucket of bolts. As for ride quality they take the cake but I couldn't let myself buy one just on account of the way the run. If they could ever figure out a way to make them run smoothly and quitely I would probably own one. I have heard some horror stories on front end components on them as well.
Matt Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: lonewolf on September 20, 2009, 12:44:11 pm I have owned this ranger since 2004! I agree it's a little noisier than some but other than my bull dog recking it I have only changed oil, spark plug, tires, and battery in 1500 hours. We use it every day hunting or on the ranch.
Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: stoked on September 25, 2009, 04:29:25 am Will a yamaha rhino fit on a 5x8' trailer...I know it would be really close!!!
Anybody ever seen it done? Title: Re: UTV hunters Post by: sfboarbuster on September 25, 2009, 06:11:04 am Idk but ive seen one in the bed of a ford ranger, so it should be able to
