Title: Ant mounds in Hog Tracks- How long does it take?
Post by: hoghunter71409 on September 21, 2014, 07:45:55 pm
Heard several people say- those tracks are not fresh.  "see the ant mounds in the tracks".  I don't know how long it takes for ant mounds to build- I never really sat and watched to see how long it takes.  I know- nobody else has either, but I wonder how people know how long it takes to build an ant pile in a track.

So, generally speaking, how long does it take?  Can it be measured in hours or half hours?

I've never really stopped and watched hog tracks  lol , but I have seen them rebuild a mound overnight here at the house when I smooth them out messing with them or hitting them with the hose .

either way a track with a ant mound built on the track would not be fresh. I see some tracks sometimes with spider webs in the toe part and their not fresh either. Atleast not fresh enough anything I'm feeding cannot take them and that's usually the tracks any hunter hates to pass up on

it could be 3 or 4 hours or a week...  :) but fresh hog rooting's with fresh shiny tracks in them is pretty fresh...cast the dogs and there should be a strike or bay in 5 minutes or less...
