Title: Dogs foot swollen and warm.
Post by: matt1969 on November 04, 2014, 05:27:12 pm
Noticed my dog was limping alittle on rear leg Saturday while letting him play in the woods.kinda like three steps and a limp kinda running.Monday limping alittle more .checked for any puncture wounds or bites.didint see anything .today it's swelled up more and warm and he won't put any weight on it. so I started antibiotics.
I don't think it's anything broke because it's gradually getting worse.really don't wanna get bent over from vet if I can help it.I try meds for a day or two and take him if I need to.
Any others ideas on what I should look for?it's near the foot that it's swollen .I can manipulate his leg any way with out discomfort.when I get to foot he starts to get uncomfortable.

He might have a splinter or thorn buried is his pad...

Go get some black drawing salve from tsc and coat the foot in it all between the toes and all

Wouldn't I see some kind of trauma from something in pad?I looked very closely and didint see any type of injury or puss or blood.he doesn't even lick it or anything .
Just gimps around holding up foot.must be something in there I'm not seeing.

Maybe an abscess from something being stuck in it before

Agreed with something stuck in it causing the swelling. I get that sometimes and i will cut my toe in the swelled area and bleed it out, reducing the swelling and draining the infection at the same time. If u got a numbing agent, numb his foot n lance it open low on the foot n sqeeze the blood out and again if need be

Many yrs ago had a dogs foot swell up and had a knot the size of a golf ball. Being poor I didn't have the cash to take him to the vet so I cut it open and seeds came out never seen it or heard of that but that one time 3 days he was back to normal

Thanks for the help.
