Heres my experience with bloodhounds. They can track a blood trail to the end. They cant track a wounded deer to save their life.  Yes it is two different things. A true tracking dog has got to put blood and that tracks scent together. When one runs out they have to be able to follow the other. The blood hounds I have been around havent been able to do this when the blood quit they quit
