But I like the looks of the Earl and JR dogs the most. I remember seeing that pic on Bayed Solid a while back and thinking that was a good looking dog. Earl could hunt the ground just as good as he could wind. i have seen him stand on his hind legs winding and be gone.he would open in the box if he smelled a hog but totally silent on track Sally and Jr can do the same thing.. Sally is a long range dog (always going some where )and Jr is more of a med range dog he is my yard dog and my #1 strike dog.. the young dogs(Sam and Smokey) seem like they are gonna be a little longer range type dogs and stay busy. no rough dogs in my pack , but 2 or 3 of them will catch anything 150 or less, but will respect a hog when needed. as you can see i like em with a little leg. i dont get to hunt them all as much as i would like but i can find a hog with most any of them. Those are some fine looking dogs,especially Ice, but I am kinda partial to the brindle saddleback you sent to Texas ;) Might just take her out this weekend, sure would be nice if you would ship Tater down her for the winter. I talked to Clue last night for about a hour, hadnt talked to him in a couple weeks. Yup, he rememberd the story you mentioned and told me about it.. yeh he had bought that horse from a guy that was with us and he had broke his collar bone a few months before that , but Clue was convinced he could conquer him. i wouldnt have wasted any time on him , but you know Clue likes a challange. ;D as you know Clue works alot of truck wrecks and catching cattle of the highway. there was a pot turned over down the road a few years back and i went and helped the guys rope some they couldnt find the night of the wreck, well we found them a couple miles away in some brush, roped and loaded them. but while i was riding with these guys they were telling me a story of a guy they watched catch a bull in the middle of the highway the week before.. about 11:30 at night. they said he went to this bull in the oncoming traffic and it looked like a fireworks show when everything came tight.. and here came Clue with the bull.. i just laughed , and said that sounds about like Clue.. i hunted sally and earl together when i was down a few years back and hunted with you and mr. mason.. she was about 2yr old then. we caught a nice little hog that day, and we had to wait on sally to come back in that night when she went under the high fence and went way to the south with a hog. you had a youngster with you then i think that was his first stick.. Roo, sally has been spayed, 2yr ago i gave her to a freind to hunt cause i had to many ,but i wanted her back if he got rid of her,, got her back this year but he had her spayed :( but i have plenty of others. are you going to be able to make the hunt on sat ? |
