Title: My wife gets her first buck and a much needed vacation. Post by: RyanTBH on February 01, 2015, 02:43:51 pm My dad's best friend lives down near Herbronville, TX. It's a nice high fence ranch that's his winter get away. Lol ;D we get to enjoy the spoils. He had a about 4-5 doe and 4-5 buck he needed taken out f the heard. We were specifically looking for a few bucks with no browtines. First evening I spotted one and my wife made a great shot and took her first deer. Couldn't be more proud of her, and she got her hands dirty and helped clean it out. I ended up seeing another buck without browtines so I laid him down. Last day of hunting I was able to harvest a doe as well so the freezer is now nice and full of meat. ;D

Georgia, this is a heavily managed ranch. He's been managing his white tall population for the past 15yrs. That means yotes, hogs, javis, and cats taken off of the place as well as possible. When I first started going down I could guarantee 3 or 4 yotes, and 3-4 javis a trip with the occasional Bobcat kill. 4 years ago I got 3 yotes, 4 javis, 1 Bobcat, and a decent cullbuck. This year I missed on 3 different yotes at over 300yrds a piece. Finally got one at 400yrds, but couldn't track him down through the thick brush. I had the wife shoot one of the 3 javis we saw on the trip so she could get a kill under her belt and out of the way. I tried to track it the next morning, but all I found were guts. Lol yotes got her. I think that made it much easier for her to pull the trigger on a buck. Title: Re: My wife gets her first buck and a much needed vacation. I have harvested a pretty fair share of deer good bucks as well. And i still get all tore up when even a doe is in the cross hairs. All my buddys say they don't even get excited over a doe anymore. I hope i always do!
