Title: Re: deer dogs Post by: 7Mhunter on July 07, 2015, 05:33:36 pm Aslong as you don't get caught lol. My grandpa had ran hoop nets for ever up until 20-25 years ago before it was illegal. He always told us when we was younger nothing was illegal till you got caught. Now he just don't want us to get in trouble lol.
Title: Re: deer dogs Post by: charles on July 07, 2015, 05:37:42 pm NO! Been illegal for many many yrs. Even trailing wounded deer with blood dogs is illegal in some counties here.
Title: Re: deer dogs Post by: Georgia-Hawgs on July 07, 2015, 07:11:30 pm I was just curious. It's legal here in the southern part of the state. Big debate about it. Most non dog hunters don't like it. I found an awesome jug today at an older fellas house. I asked what he'd take for it and he said just take it. Had some hounds trailing a buck on it and got me wandering if it was legal in yalls state. I'll try to post some pics of it. It's pretty cool

Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk Title: Re: deer dogs Post by: charles on July 07, 2015, 07:56:36 pm a really really big dip net without a handle. used to set them out that ranged from 4'-12' in length and most were 4' in diameter. take 4 houla-hoops, spread them apart bout 3'-4' and tie a 1"-1.5" square fish net around them. close off one end, and leave one end open with a bottle neck mouth for fish to go in. or you can google it to get a better idea.
Title: Re: deer dogs Post by: Shotgun wg on July 07, 2015, 10:46:58 pm Still run deer dogs in AR. Getting to be less and less tho. High deer populations has made folks get funny. They sit a stand and see 20 deer a day and are happy. 20 years ago everyone would call for us to come run dogs. But then u might sit a stand all week and see 1 deer. Folks didn't have lots of feeders out either.

Title: Re: deer dogs Post by: Cajun on July 08, 2015, 12:47:28 pm Same here Cracker. I have a 12000 acre hunting club that surrounds my property. It is a dog running club and it has dogs running on it 10 months out of the year. They stop in July for the does having fawns an Turkey season. Other then that if it is on the ground it is going to be run by something & these hogs are definently runners.
Title: Re: deer dogs Post by: Georgia-Hawgs on July 08, 2015, 01:18:30 pm Do yalls deer hunters that strictly hunt from a stand and don't run any kind of dogs talk down on the dog guys? They sure do here.

Other then that if it is on the ground it is going to be run by something & these hogs are definently runners. I hunt a lease set up for the same thing. Everybody knows them ol hound dogs are trashy as heck, so hogs are getting run 11 months outta the year and most of them hogs can flat run for a LONG time. Last year I had a cur dog trailing a good hog in a bottom, when over the hill a pack of walkers come burning a deer up. That bottom blew up for a few minutes, and it didn't get any better sounding then the music I was hearing. Title: Re: deer dogs Post by: Walkerhuntfish on July 08, 2015, 06:15:34 pm From what I hear it's dying pretty fast here in La. The government finally snuffed out the boys in kisatchie national forest last couple years. One of the big paper companies have banned it on there north la properties also. It's about dead down south too. Everybody still hunts. The same paper company still allows it down here. Also the few hunting clubs in swamps still do it but they lost bunch of land to state wma about 10 or 15 years ago. I love it but it's dying faster than tree in the desert. I love hearing them long legged walkers pouring the coal to ones butt on a cold morning then hear the water splashing as they get closer.
