Title: infection in pig Post by: Georgia-Hawgs on October 01, 2015, 02:00:11 pm My buddy caught a small boar. About 125. Planned on feeding it out and eating it. It seems that where the dogs caught there is an infection that has set in at the base of the ear. He asked me if it's still okay to eat it. I said i don't know. What do yall think?

Title: Re: infection in pig Post by: Nannyslayer on October 01, 2015, 10:16:27 pm How long till he butchers? Can give it a shot of la 200, which will give it a 60 day period before he can butcher.
Also cut and heal or vetricyn the cut up everyday for a few days and that will help. Title: Re: infection in pig Post by: Myles Man on October 10, 2015, 10:14:17 pm I had my hog for probably 9 months,he was getting big, over 200 pounds,
2 days ago he quit using is rear, both back legs just quit working for some odd reason, I had to put him down and didn't want to butcher him due to him being crippled/sick I figured it was a disease of some sort.... Title: Re: infection in pig Post by: lettmroll on January 15, 2017, 07:38:17 am Myles man, I know this is an old post but just wanted to let you know encase you ever had the same situation. When a hog goes down in their rear end it's due to a certain type of worm(sorry can't remember the name/type of worm), pull up 3cc of ivermec and give him a shot (pretty much anywhere in the body, the old man that showed me gave it to them in the Joel) and within a day are two they'll be good as new. But wait 120 days after you give it to them, before you butcher it if that's your plan.
