Title: Sport mix wholesomes Post by: jsh on December 17, 2015, 05:54:46 am I've fed sport mix black bag for a while now. Going to try the wholesomes chicken meal and rice as it has no corn, wheat or soy.
Just curious if any of you guys have had any experience with it. Title: Re: Sport mix wholesomes Post by: Mike on December 17, 2015, 01:01:32 pm I haven't seen that one... how is it, price wise, to the black bag?
Title: Re: Sport mix wholesomes Post by: jsh on December 17, 2015, 09:39:25 pm I get 40lb black bag for $26.99. The wholesomes is 29.99 at TSC. Right now it's on sale for the same price as the 24/20, but only for a week. TSC has the best price for sportmix around me. Most of the feed stores are running Victor and there's no way I'm paying $38 for a bag of that. The lamb and beef formulas are 32.99 I believe.
Title: Re: Sport mix wholesomes Post by: Reuben on December 19, 2015, 05:14:26 am I use that sports mix mixed in with retriever. My dogs do well on that mix. Idk how it would be just on its own though. sounds like you are saving some money... Title: Re: Sport mix wholesomes Post by: Freedom-Fighter00 on January 02, 2016, 08:49:49 am I converted from Diamond High Energy to the black bag of Sports Mix. Here in Tarkington Cannons keeps it on the shelf for 28.99 55 pound bag. Dogs prefer it over the High Energy. I tried the Wholesome less feed more money, but it caused the dogs to scour. As the saying goes."if it isn't broke don't fix it."
Title: Re: Sport mix wholesomes Post by: Reuben on January 02, 2016, 01:07:50 pm my observation of diamond high energy has been that it takes less slightly less feed than sportsmix in the black bag to maintain a dogs weight...but the sportsmix produces firmer stools and they don't smell as bad...so I feed sportsmix instead...
Title: Re: Sport mix wholesomes Post by: jsh on February 27, 2016, 06:42:23 am Been feeding this for over 60 days now - went back to the black bag yesterday.
Inconsistent batches in color, size of kibble and moisture level. Two dogs have had loose stools and some have had to feed more to maintain weight. May have been the lesser fat content, I'm not sure. I'll go back to the black bag, save some money and feed less food. |
