Title: abscess on dog

i have a dog with i think an abscess behind his shoulder blade. its about the size of a grape. any advice on draining it.

Either lance it or cut it open with a scalpel.

Put a large gauge needle on a syringe  and stick it in the abscess.  Draw out the fluid.  If it's a clear liquid it's probably just a gland that's aggrivated from something like laying on it.   Just draw the fluid off for a few days.  If no change after a few days of this, go see vet.
     If it's puss, it could be from a thorn or something and needs to be lanced, clean it out, flush it with iodine and leave it open.  Continue to flush it couple times a day.

yep keep opening it as needed until heeled and i'm not a big fan of antibiotics unless really necessary .

ok thats kinda wat i was thinking. ill start with a needle and work up. he doesnt get much antibiotics unless its a pretty deep hole. thanks
