Title: Big Boar 267 Post by: TexasHogDogs on February 27, 2016, 10:31:42 pm T-Bone Harris and Joel called the other day and I met them. We turned four dogs loose two of T-Bones and two of mine Te-bow and Nona were mine and Joel had his catch dog . One of T-Bones hollered and we went . Joel had his catch dog turned him loose he got slowed down by the thicket vines the big boar left but not for long T-Bones two and my two stopped him in less than a 100 yards and Joel bulldog slammed him .
Ole Boar pegged the scales at 267 lbs . We caught more big boars this year than some years and my bulldog was the only catchdog most of the time. He seems to be more exiteable on the way to a bay but still on the ear every time and still didn't get cut once. We got to watch him catch a 240# boar that they had stopped in the open. We sent him and Loki (a 100# bulldog). Gus was out in front by a few feet and crossed in front of the hog to come in on his right ear. He got chunked sideways and then Loki hit head on and got chunked straight up and over backwards. Most amazing display of power! But as soon as the boar hit Loki he spun and Gus had him on the ear and Loki got the other. We were so busy with T's kids sports and shoeing that we really didn't make any hunts with anyone new this year. I did find that my age is catching up to me pretty bad. I don't have any speed going to the bay and wrestling a big boar out bout kicks my old butt.
