Title: Mothers instinct Post by: dallas22 on May 29, 2016, 10:19:37 am Ive got a gyp that has had pups ive been trying to let her out of the pen to do her business but now shes trying to take pups with her. I think shes trying to pups them under the shed. Why do gyps do this?
Title: Re: Mothers instinct Post by: Reuben on May 29, 2016, 11:21:53 am my theory is that the dog still has that wild maternal instinct to protect her pups and so they would rather dig a hole under a shed or somewhere where they feel that their pups are safe...they would rather do that than keep them in a man made whelping box...kind of what coyotes and wolves do with their young...
