He got hit by a train and never got to see his full potential but he would stay busy and go hunt, really well built dog too.

All I can figure is that he wasn't a very smart dog.:o He was either facing the train or running directly away from it... judging from how we found him. I guess he wasn't meant to be... it's a shame to because he was coming along real good. I have another buddy that lost two young dogs from a train. They got caught across the tracks and tried to run through the gap between the wheels as the train rolled by. Title: Re: Another ? on bird dogs Post by: shawn on October 15, 2009, 08:04:47 am buddy of mine had one that he brought a lot, she was a decent help dog...sometimes (most of the time she just mauled the pig after it was already caught) , wouldn't hunt to save her life either. She also was hard headed, had no handle at all.

As the train is coming at them straight on, they don't realize it is getting closer. Weird, that is for sure. Generally, the tracking collars aren't worth working to get after that.
