Post by: PLOTTHOUNDS on January 29, 2017, 09:26:58 pm
I know people on here have got to have at least a little experience about this? Could you please give me your 2 cents?

Yea I got a couple I ain't going to say they better than some good full catahoulas from good blood or better then any full blood dog out of good stock but they are coming along and with some age going be decent dogs. They are half catahoula half plott out of some good stock. I am liking them right now time will tell they are 1 year and about 9 months old right now they been in big woods since 9 months old.

I've got a plott black mouth cross that comes from some of the best blood around these parts. That (isn't) bayou Cajun, or sizzlin heat , or Pocahontas. It's different but great blood and they bred it to a nice Ladner cur dog that is open, But fast so we will see what happens. We'll thanks for the info. And I think she's going to do fine. She's already bayed a hog in a pen. Seems very natural-- I knew I couldn't have been the only one to give a cur cross a shot

I'm headin that direction myself. I've raised up last year some Partin walker cross pups. They will be a year in May. Excited to see them get going. Love a hog already.
Also taking my good bmc dog to a hound myself when she comes in. So will see. Preston is pretty familiar with them. He's convinced me haha

I had a dog named rooster. He's was 3/4 American leopard hound 1/4 cur and I liked him. Art you was on the hunt he struck ran and bayed his first hog solo. Art that was the big ugly houndy lookin yellow dog I probably caused 43 times on the phone with ya. He made a liar out of me that day. I remember he got bayed and I told y'all I doubt it's a hog that's a trashy sob. Sure enough he had a decent boar. Sadly he was one of the ones that got poisoned just as he was really turning it all the way on. Silent on track, colder nose I thought, and hard hunter. Not long range by any means but every bush and rock under 500 yards was gonna be turned over till he rolled a track. I've been having some good look outta cat/plott cross we've been trying over past few years. For the most part they've been silent but sometimes may open a little of hog breaks. My main 2 dogs I just lost in the past few weeks were cat/plott....pups are 5 months old and showing good potential. We've also got some cat/walker cross we've been working with that's coming on strong too.
