Title: 10-17-09 Honey Hole Boar Post by: Ladogos on October 17, 2009, 09:40:13 pm We finally got some cooler weather in with some rain on the ground and it made it a perfect day for hunting . My son, Dillion, wanted to bring one of his friends , Johnathon. It was his first time to get to go hog hunting with dogs. We headed out about daylight and got to the hunting spot. We hunted for a few hours and made a covered a few miles but didn't get on anything. We went to my Honey Hole and made a big round around it. We were makeing our last turn and I told the boys that we were gonna go ahead and head back to the truck . Boots went out and was making a loop and was about 300 yards out and coming back towards us when all of a sudden he fell bayed. All the other dogs went to em and just before they got ther it broke. It ran about 200 yards and was caught by PPC De'Angelo and Brica De Ladogos. When we got to them it was another nice boar, 245 lbs, with good teeth on both sides. We legged it and was gonna tie it and bring it out alive but Noticed that De'Angelo and Brica were both cut pretty bad. So we let Johnathon stick his first hog. He was all smiles afterwards.

Since you have dogos, I've got a question about a pup that I have...I was given a male puppy from a gentleman who is from Argentina, now living in Arizona who came down to South Texas to hunt with me. Anyway, The pup is about six months and since I really don't have any other dogo pups to compare him to I thought he was growing at a normal rate...I have a Plott/Cur cross pup that is the same age and is now bigger than the dogo...I haven't seen much of a growth spurt in the dogo pup as I have the other pup...So, I contacted the man who gave me the pup and he sent me some pics of his pups, they are monsters compared to mine...Funny thing is that mine was the biggest in the litter at birth...I feed him Purina One Puppy Food and River Run Hi-Pro to everything else...My question is, should he be this thin and lanky for his age? He's been wormed with Strongid Dewormers, up to date on all his shots and so forth... I'm a little perplexed with this puppy...Any advice from you would greatly be appreciated... Vincent, Caught this hog in the same place that we caught that big hog that cut Daisy up the night you were over here back in March. There wasn't as much sign there as it was back then , I think due to the adjucent land owner has hired a trapper to trap 7 days a week and he has really put a dent in them. |
