Title: Small hog but good training Hunt Post by: Flatbroke on April 12, 2008, 02:10:44 pm My dad, youngest son, and I started out at first light with three dogs, one finished, one well started, and a dog that has been on 3 hogs but we had hi-hopes after last weekends hog.
Didn’t take long before we spotted 2 nice size hogs atop a mountain feeding. We drove over and were half way up when we jumped a sounder of hogs ranging from small to large, we released to dogs and my dad lead one in on leash for a ways before turning it loose. I drove to the top and ran into the original hogs we saw. (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/Flatbroke/Hog41208001.jpg)A The young dog ended finding his fourth hog on his own. (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/Flatbroke/Hog41208006.jpg) And my son got some practice at legging a hog before we released it. (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/Flatbroke/Hog41208008.jpg) Not the biggest hog but was certainly a good training experience. The older dogs chased a large hog, in the 300 pound class with good teeth showing but weren’t able to stop it. It was pretty steep where we were at. The flowers are blooming and turkeys were out. I wouldnt have posted these but it was my sons first time legging a hog. ;D (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/Flatbroke/Hog41208010.jpg) (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/Flatbroke/Hog41208013.jpg) Title: Re: Small hog but good training Hunt Post by: longshot on April 12, 2008, 03:04:32 pm Good pics,
Somtimes it is not the size of the hogs that matters. You will remember the first time your son legged a hog, that makes it special. You will forget lots of BIG hogs but never that ONE! Thanks for posting Longshot Title: Re: Small hog but good training Hunt Post by: tuskbuster on April 12, 2008, 11:51:06 pm i member the first time my son saw me leg ahog. and i aint let em out do me since, usually. less he makes it to the barditch.heheheheh
