Title: Dominion 2L For Fleas
Post by: Austesus on April 30, 2019, 01:09:07 pm
Do any of you guys use this? I’ve seen a little bit about it but not much. About a month ago I had fleas show up out of nowhere. I always use the little liquid packets you put down their spine from Walmart or tractor supply. One of the dogs wasn’t at the house when I did the others and I forgot to get him. Now they’re everywhere. I’ve used the liquid on the back since then, given multiple flea baths, and got some flea spray from Lowe’s that hooks to the end of the water hose. Seems like they’re just getting worse.

I just ordered Dominion 2L from Amazon. Gonna try spraying that around the yard and using a syringe to put it down each dogs back. I saw some stuff saying to dilute it half and half with water to drop the main active ingredient down to around 9%. Others said they just use it straight. Anybody on here have experience with the stuff? If all else fails I’ll get comfortis.

I also tried using stock salt after seeing a post on here about it. Maybe I didn’t use enough... It didn’t really do anything for me.

I like the confortis tablets. I've tried topicals, pesticides, borax, salt, and home remedies. I spent all that money and it still didn't work. It was cheaper in the long run to use the confortis. I buy the 60-120lb  tablets. If a dog weighs less than 60 I give them half, and all my cur dogs do. If they are 60 and above then I give them a whole one. Been working for me

Conserve  SC it's about 150$ a quart and exact same ingredient as comfortis but WAY cheaper, give it at 1cc per ten lbs with food and you won't have a flea, Google it or look it up on Amazon...

10-4 Goose, if the dominion does not work I will look in to this. Are you applying it down the back as a topical?

I use Biden XTS (32 oz) and yard guard...I pour out 1/2 of the yard guard (32 oz) in a container  and then I top off the yard guard container with the Biden XTS...connect to the water hose and in 5 minutes my back yard and back side of house has been sprayed including kennels and slabs...
I then use the other half in my front yard...my house sits on two lots...

There are no fire ants and no fleas and no ticks...I do this about once a year give or take...

No given orally, either shoot it down the throat or mix in their food bowl when you feed up, can add a little water to help it mix easy...

I have tried every trick in the book everything is a waste of time and money I get nexguard from bestvalue pet supply runs bout 11 bucks a dog when you buy the big packs I do it 3 times a yr or so and spray cyranora on the yard. This has worked the best for me and the cheapest route long term. Once you break there cycle it’s easy

Man y’all better listen to ol goose on this one...lol

I used to use turraus sc, then dominion 21 both topically. They worked ok sometimes...with multiple applications in conjunction with mixing in spray bottle and spraying chain spots and surrounding yard.

But inveriably, you run your dogs with a buddy whose dogs have fleas and come home and have to repeat the process...

Last year there was a similar thread on here and i ordered me some conserve.

Seems some were holding this info close to their chest but the secret got out lol, I side joke from last years thread.

Man I ain’t had a flea since. I mean not one!

I recently got a dog here I bred years ago waiting for a b!tch to go into heat do I could get a breeding out of him. The first thing I did him I put him on the chain spot was check for fleas. He was ate up with em....
He is bout a 70lb dog. Most folks give the conserve 1cc per ten lbs. I don’t give that much. I give 3cc for a 50 lb dog and it cleared up my yard imeadiatly and permanently last year. And didn’t dose but 3 months on the summer last year.

Well...after seeing all those fleas and knowing what a fight fleas can be I ran directly in the house slathered a pc of bread with some bacon grease and drew up 5cc and spquirted it on the bread fixed that dog a bowl of kibble and ran back out and gave it to him.

Woke up early next morn and went right out and checked him and not a flea on him. Been here a month and not a flea on any of the dogs and my chain spots pretty close together. I don’t know where heck they went that night but they sure as heck went on a oneway ticket lol.

Way cheaper than comfortis when you do the math on it. Best investment I ever made

Conserve sc, grey bottle green cap, forestry dist. In Colorado cheapest place I found it online.
Shake well before use. Store inside. Dogs don’t like it and when you smell it you will know why.
I suppose you could squirt it down their throats but I keep bacon grease in jar in the fridge to give to the dogs every so often. Put some on slice bread and squirt it on there and do a fold over on it is how I give mine and my wormer as well. Supposed to give it at feeding time with food or they may vomit it back up.

The conserve SC will be the next step. I actually forgot about it. I have some screenshots from an old post on here talking about it. Even if the dominion works I believe I will still order the conserve.

The Conserve is the way to go... been using it several years now. It’s basically liquid comfortis and fleas will start falling off the dogs dead within 20 minutes or so. I use it once, maybe twice a year if the fleas come back. No spraying the yard or any of that mess... the dogs become flea killing machines.

Alright guys, I put some of the dominion 2L on the dogs at 10:30pm last night. I did 1.25cc per dog, and did not dilute it at all. My catch dog is in an area by himself and had them the worst. After I put some down his back and rubbed it in, I rolled him over and put another .5cc on his stomach. He literally had hundreds of fleas on him. I went out and checked him at 7am and did not see a single flea.

Now I’m waiting to see if they die off in the yard. If they’re still in the yard I’ll try spraying the stuff. Hopefully the dogs will be enough to kill them.

Thanks for the update! I didn't have to worry about the fleas up north. I just used ivermectin. I am guessing that won't work here in Texas.

Is this the stuff? https://www.domyown.com/dominion-2l-termiticide-concentrate-p-1223.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0d-Yz77_4QIVj7fACh1MjwkvEAQYASABEgIeWvD_BwE  (https://www.domyown.com/dominion-2l-termiticide-concentrate-p-1223.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0d-Yz77_4QIVj7fACh1MjwkvEAQYASABEgIeWvD_BwE)

Yep that’s it! So far it seems to be 100%. I’m waiting now to see if the dogs alone will kill the fleas on the yard or if I will need to spray. I know with the dominion you have to rub it in to the dogs skin pretty good. Most people I saw using it are diluting it half and half with water. My fleas were bad so I just used it straight and decided to try 1.25cc, seems to work good and all of the dogs seemed fine this morning. Hopefully it will keep them off.

How often should you have to use conserve? I used it a couple of weeks ago and it wiped em out . But I just noticed 1 dog with em again....what do you all think?

Did you give it with feed? If not, that dog that has fleas again may have vomited and it didn’t get into his system. I give it once... maybe twice a year. But I wouldn’t give them more than one dose a month.

With feed ,she had em bad and was clear the next day. I did the 3 cc per 50 lbs like Rueben said. All others are clear though

She may not have gotten a high enough dose... I’ve always done 1cc per 10 lbs and never had fleas come back that fast.

I have several bottles of dominion 2L but haven’t used any...

I spray the yard during mosquito season once a year and maybe twice depending if they get bad...I mix bifen  XTS with yard guard 50/50...it takes a total of 20 minutes to spray front and back yards to include up the house walls and kennels...I also spray in the dog houses...doing it this way it kills every bug in my yard including fire ants and fleas...doing it this way and all my dogs do not have fleas...all my dogs are on concrete so that probably helps...

Rough Curs...maybe I said that in another thread but I don’t recall...

Concrete definitely helps, dogs on chains are in the dirt, which dries their skin out, dogs on slabs don’t get dried out and their hair always seems to be greasier than a dog on dirt and fleas can’t stand oily greasy hair...

Are the fleas coming back or did she just have some jump on her that haven’t bitten her yet and ingested the medicine?

Sorry it was Semmes that said the 3cc per 50 lbs...not sure if there coming back or just her kennel.  It started with her getting 6 opossum in a week in her kennel.  Then spread to everyone. I saw some crawling on her I'll check again maybe they had not bit her yet. Stuff definitely works though.

I used half what was recommended by other folks on here just cause I’m cheap lol and it worked for me immediately and so far permanently. But that first time I did my dogs with it I treated the whole yard and runs at the same time with a spray bottle and some of the dominion 21 I had left and mixed it pretty doggone hot.
Fleas have a two week life cycle so what you are see is probably adult life stage fleas that have morphed from the larva form that were down in the dirt and leaves. The larva don’t feed from the dogs, they eat pet dander and other stuff in the dirt, so were probably not exposed to the spinosaid in the conserve yet.

Got it ,probably right ,lol she is actually the only 1on dirt everyone else is on concrete.

So here’s the update... I ended up doing two treatments of the dominion 2l, about a week apart. First one was 1.25cc’s down the back, the second treatment was 1.25cc’s on the belly, both tunes I rubbed it in good. I also sprayed around the kennels. Originally it killed them off the dogs but they were still on the ground and would get on my legs. I ordered the conserve SC, but now I haven’t even used it because the fleas disappeared. I guess it just took a little while for all of the new life cycles to die off. I haven’t seen a flea in about 2 weeks. I’m almost out of the dominion, so next time around I will give them the conserve SC.
