Title: Me and Barbie
Post by: t-dog on May 10, 2019, 05:18:27 pm
Well myself and Barbie (Kyle) made a little round this morning. Caught 2 decent hogs and a couple of shoats. We took a puppy each along with Raylynn and Lulu. The pups are litter mates out of Raylynn. It is so much fun watching pups progress. It was the first hunt for his pup and the second for mine. At one time my pup was with her momma at .96, Lulu was another direction, and Ken was another at about 400. It was fun for sure. The first two pictures are of Raylynn and Ava (her daughter). The third pic is Raylynn leaving her mark on the brake pedal. She's getting real good at that.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190510/3276a3c67caf9640bd4da35b8a81bf3c.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190510/6fa953eee6d4d6efb3b71067152227f6.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190510/834bb1deb56d2f8166d0a1412eb5d21b.jpg)

They are cat/walker cross. I've been working on this family for about 20+ years. They make me happy most days lol.

Good looking dogs. I love those stream lined, high flanked built dogs. Nice hunt. Nick said he talked to you. Looking forward to making a hunt.

Thomas you must breed closer to the running hound side than the guys I know. Good looking suckers, you can tell by their build they got some warm blood in em

Slim believe it or not, I only have treeing walker in them, no running hound. It's just been a process of selective breeding. It takes a while when you don't raise any more puppies than I do a year and you have to breed for multiple traits. It's actually getting easier though. The further I go the more consistency I'm getting in this body type.

T-dog, where did the catahoula blood come from in your dogs?

Mike it was some old stock bred stuff that a friend had. They originally tried to freshen it up with the Walker blood. But one of those dogs wanted nothing to do with cows but was hog crazy. I wound up with him and started from there. One of those gyps (straight cat) and a doughbelly gyp were the two gyps I started my stuff with. After line breeding back towards the old original male I freshened it up with another buddies cats that he had gotten from a friend that had hunted them for years. Our families were real similar in almost every way. Where I wanted to improve on mine his were stronger and vise versus. Lol it's a long complicated story but that's the gist of it.

Real nice style of dog your breeding mate, well put together and racy looking.
A good trait to have with them running hogs, good way to put the park brake on,,,,,
Good hunt mate.

Cheers
