Title: Questions about garmin alpha handheld
Post by: CutNShootHD on May 11, 2019, 01:21:53 pm
I might have the opportunity to get an Alpha with a tt15 collar. Right now I have a 320 with 40s and 30s. I tried putting the Google to it but I can’t find anything that says if I can still use my current collars with the Alpha. I know I wouldn’t have the “training “ feature with my current collars, but will the Alpha track them? Or would I have to get aallllll new collars??? Thanks y’all!!

As far as I know the alpha will not track the older collars. I used to carry the alpha and the 320 at the same time. The alpha is awesome though. Having the tone feature is really nice and I like using the alpha better than the 320.

No... the Alpha will not track the 30’s and 40’s. Once you get used to the Alpha, you’ll throw that old stuff away haha.

The  Alpha will track DC50's and the Astro 430 will track the TT collars, just thought I'd mention it in case you ran across a deal on some 50's. You have to "re pair" the 50's to an alpha or the 430 as they can't be tracked by the old 320's and the Alpha or the 430 at the same time, it is actually a different frequency.

Thank you sir, no I did not realize that. Sooo.....I did buy this Alpha and tt15 and I’m wondering if I need to/should get all 15s now or if I could go a little “cheaper” on collars with ones that don’t train??  I feel like the training aspect would come in handy for things other than trashing...I figure I can teach them toning if they can’t hear me hooping them back? Or feel like ignoring me lol. I feel like it’d be good for grown dogs and any youngsters in the future.  I played around with this thing a little bit and it seems pretty nifty.

I tone trained a few of my dogs, it’s real handy. It works for when they’re out of ear shot, or when they just don’t want to listen. Hell the other day one of the dogs swam water and didn’t want to swim back so i toned him. They know after the tone comes a shock if they don’t listen, so he jumped right in and crossed to me.

You can find good deals on the tt10. Pretty much the same as the tt15 but to collar vibrate or bark indicator.
