Title: Dang Lizard... Post by: Mike on June 11, 2019, 08:57:58 pm They’re letting us catch two gators this year off one of the properties I hunt. My partner called me this afternoon and said he had one on the line. I went straight from work and helped him haul the lizard in. A big one broke my line a couple weeks back... I’m resetting it Friday. No dogs for this sucker...

Title: Re: Dang Lizard... Post by: make-em-squeel on June 13, 2019, 04:55:17 pm Scary glad not many around here, what do you do when your dogs are caught in the water? Just jump in like me or does someone look for gators on the bank with a gun while another handles the pig?
Dogs pigs and blood seem like gator calls Title: Re: Dang Lizard... Post by: CutNShootHD on June 13, 2019, 06:56:18 pm Holy, that’s a big joker!!!
Title: Dang Lizard... Post by: Mike on June 13, 2019, 08:26:58 pm Thanks y’all... they told us today to get three, so hopefully we’ll have two on the line this weekend.
T-dog, she was only 8’6”... sure fooled us. We studied and looked at her for about 15 minutes, sure she was gonna be pushing 10’. Judging the width of her head and back, she sure threw us off... most gators under 10’ are lean and narrow. Make-em-squeal... that’s why I got them young fellers hunting with me... gator bait haha!!! Honestly I’ve only been worried one time. We waded through a few hundreds yards of saw grass that was knee deep water. The dogs were caught in a chest deep pool of water in the middle of it... not far from where these two hung out. I agree... once they reach a certain size they do not have any natural predators other than a larger gator...some places are over ran with gators...back home when I was a kid there was very few gators...they stayed clear of humans and we swam in all the rivers close by without thinking of gator encounters...I don’t think anyone swims those places anymore...they have caught gators over 14 ft long in some of those places... Title: Re: Dang Lizard... Post by: Reuben on June 13, 2019, 08:52:28 pm In some places the gators already know to go to the bay for an easy meal in certain lakes and swamps...

I think I would start carrying a gun for sure. And using my new walking stick thats is a spear from coldsteel.com, that i added a cane bottom and place to clip my dog lead to. I usually only use it in winter when i dont want to get wet! Title: Re: Dang Lizard... I think they’re overpopulated to a point where it’s becoming a problem. And i just think they’re too unpredictable, a gator worries me more than any pig or snake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
