Title: CAUGHT ONE BACKTODAY WE HAD CAUGHT A COUPLE OF YRS AGO Post by: The Old Man on March 13, 2021, 08:37:57 pm Actually caught 4 today, first 3 were off a split race from a good rig strike, an 80/90 pound Russian type boar that was bayed in a wet ditch by 2 Plotts, a sow that matched him was bayed in the creek, before we could get across the 3 Plotts that had her bayed caught her, and the dogs that bayed the first boar relayed and caught a 20/25 lb shoat. Then we finally broke the sow/shoat curse off our next strike in another spot we had free cast into and caught a decent Boar Hog. He tipped the scales at 235 so not a monster but a good one and the fact we had caught him a couple of years or so ago made it even better. We had elected to leave him for seed because he was of a real good type so we had marked him. At one point today we saw the sows he was running with and they were also of a good type. Several years ago we had a severe drought and the hogs pretty much left out of here and when they came back there were lots of spotted hogs which we hadn't had prior to their return. It's good to be finding a higher percentage of Russian type hogs. Dogs looked extra good, probably due to the fact it happened to be comparatively good running where we found the hogs. They were able to catch up to and get them bayed within 2 miles of the strikes.
