It depends really. If the long range dog is independent than he should still stay out. But I've seen the shorter range dogs turn long range. And I've seen the opposite where the long range goes shorter. My bet is the short range dogs start hunting further out. Mainly cause I think once the long range dog starts finding hogs before the other 2, the two short dogs will want to be up in the action more and hang with him

I haven't had any eye problems in the past, do y'all think it would be okay to hunt him? I have a big hunt I'm going on tonight. Or should I leave him at home for a couple more weeks? Every time I mess with his cut collar he gets all excited and wants to load up. But I just don't wanna make it worse if there's still a chance it'll heal up

Dillers smell just like a pig and our young dogs trash on them occasionally. Best thing that has worked for us and has been a long time trash breaking technique is let them go ahead and catch it. When it kills it take a piece of mule tape and tie that driller to the dogs collar and let it ride the dog for a week or so. I promise you that dog will hate a driller so bad after that it wouldn't bat an eye at one the next time you run across one.
my dad had a ab that would chase all his chickens and kill them. so he zip tied a dead chicken to his collar and left it on there until it stunk so bad that you could smell it as soon as you went in the back yard. me being the son, my dad had me go cut it off, the daggum dog picked it up and finished eating what was left and went after another chicken! needless to say, my dad built a chicken coop the next day haha

HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / messed up eye??

well it was dropping down in the teens at night so i decided to put my catch dog in the same pen as my best trail dog. well one night they tied up over food, nothing bad, just kinda like a "hey this is my food, stick to your own food" kinda thing. well i noticed my catch dog wouldnt open one of his eyes and was rubbing it with his paw. i didnt mess with it because i figured it was just scratched. the next day i put some eye meds i got from a vet and repeated for about 2 weeks. it opened up 2 days after the little fight and doesnt seem like it bothers him but its almost all white/blueish in color. if you cover the good eye and act like your gonna poke the bad eye, he closes it. the eye isnt punctured but still hasnt went back to normal color. has anyone had any similar problems? i havent brought him hunting because i dont want and brush making it worse, but im worried his eye will go bad and i wont be able to hunt him at all anymore. what do yall think?

my buddy's dogs are some of the best ive hunted behind, and they go through stages where they trash on armadillos too. ive always been told that armadillos have a similar scent to a hog, im not sure if its true, but it makes since considering your dogs and my buddy's dogs will ONLY trash on armadillos.

if its got clear jelly in the poop, that's a real good sign of coccidious (spelling). its a very contagious bacteria. one of my pups had it about a year ago and barely saved it. they actually die from being so dehydrated. if its not addressed in the very first stages, then more than likely its too late. id quantine all dogs/pups in the same pen or in the pen next to the dogs infected. bleach all the kennels and dig up all the dirt around the pens and get rid of it. im not a vet but this is what my vet told me and it worked. I hope you all the best of luck.

one of my uncles deer dogs got out and the spca picked it up. even though the dog had a I.D. tag with a number AND address, not to mention the dog was picked up less than a mile from the house, they didn't bring it to my uncle. they didn't even call my uncle to let him know, we thankfully were on their website and saw the dog on there. it cost me 350 to get the dog out, I ended up having to pay an extra fee for not having him neutered! I can see where a fee could help, but when the collar had a number and address, and was picked up less than a mile away, I believe they should've brought it back to my uncles house instead.

we had a lemon walker and a tri color walker that would tie up in a heart beat. they were both the same age and both were the best dogs we had. if they were in the woods there were no fights, but we couldn't put them in the same pen or let em out in the yard without keeping a close eye on them. we tried everything from collars to cattle prods, and even the boot. the weird thing was they were both raised as pups together and they even fought at 8 weeks old. but they wouldn't fight any other dog, just each other. the only way we could avoid the fights is to keep em kenneled separately. at 10 years old the lemon walker passed away to a snake bite, but that was the end of the fights. sorry to kinda hijack the post, but this was my experience on this subject..i hope you find a fix to it
