SOLD!! SOLD!!! SOLD!!!! $250 or trade for working tracking collars. Molly is a 2 year old pure bred, black and tan female Catahoula. She has been started on hogs, and has been on many successful hunts. We have mostly walk hunted her but she has also been rig hunted too. She will range out to around 400-500yds on her own, and will go farther with more dogs on the ground. She is an in your face type bay dog, and will give her all to try and stop a runner. If another dogs catches then she will catch, and is very gritty. Broke off deer and livestock. She is a very easy keeper! No aggression! She is nonreactive to male or female dogs, and is not aggressive over her food. No human aggression. She has had two heat cycles, and never been bred. She can load up in the dog box. And be easily kept on a chain, or kennel. She is a typical energetic catahoula, but knows when to shut it. She is a beautiful female, and has the potential be a great hog dog or farm dog. We are going in a different direction with our pack of dogs and we have needed to move her for awhile but I want her to go to someone who knows what they are doing. All I ask is that you treat her well and give her a job to do. Please contact me for more info. There are working lines of dogos being bred in America. They're expense and take longer to mature than the average pit, so owning a dogo is like an investment. They were bred to be sensitive to their family and be docile in the home. They are a contradiction. But I do believe that the "show lines" and "working lines" of dogo are becoming two very different type of dogs. The desired look for the dogo in the show world is ruining them for what is needed in the woods. Ok...the thing to do is breed the white out of them...lol
X2 and yes ... why do they have to be white?? that never helps any breed, horse etc! mine are from ppc, and most are catching b/w 3-6 mo, its the only line ive owned the past 7 years since culling a few but they start early and are hard. this late starting crap is not except-able imo. if they start late why not use a scott bred ab? mine are not in the woods at that age but once their puppy teeth set and their athletic enough they are typically in the woods by 10-13 months [/quote] I did not mean late starting, but physically mature. I had my female dogo in the woods at 4-5 months. Training starts when they can keep up. But dogos go through an awkward stage longer than most breeds imo. But I do agree with the coat color, or at least allowing more than 10% on the head.

True, I can agree with you on being able to control the environment your pup would be in. That's some great training for people who don't have places.

There's a place out where I am that traps hogs and puts them in a 5 acre pen, then you can pay an hourly rate and take your dogs and hunt it. That type of stuff isn't for me, I'd rather take them to the woods. Might take longer but the results are far better in my opinion. Like cracker said, paying someone to take my dog for months to be trained takes away the biggest aspect of this sport that I love. I worry about outside training being as effective when its not done by who the dog sees as their "master". I also think that trust and understanding is built between you and your dog when its trained by you, over time things like that are needed for those hairy situations out hunting. Just my opinion.

^^x2 We had to thin down and stop hunting for about 2 years bcuz life happened...finished school, bought a house with some land and planned a wedding. Now that's finally over and life has slowed we are rebuilding our pack of dogs. Gets frustrating but I believe this is a "pay your dues" type of sport. Sure you can buy a couple random dogs and throw them together but to raise and build, basically manufacture a hog dog is far more rewarding in the long run and creates such a better handling pack of dogs.

Thanks yall! I think it hurts me more than it'll hurt him, but glad to hear it shouldn't effect his drive much. Bluto is one of those parking lot specials that turned out to be a gem. Dropped him off this morning, he knew something was up...

We have a 8 year old female cur/walker hound whose hunted all her life with us, produced 3 litters of working dog and we still take her. She used to range really far which would lead to some long nights trying to get her back, but she's quit that as she has got older. She'll find hogs with our younger dogs, but not near as gritty about it. It might take her all week to recover, and sometimes she needs a boost in to the box, but we'll keep taking her as long as she wants to go.

We are going to have one of our males neutered, for health reasons and less headaches on the yard. He's about a 1 1/2 so he's mature. Great personality and hunting dog. Wondering if any of yall have neutered a dog after a year old, did if effect their drive to hunt at all?
