now like I said I'm new to hog dogs but when do you boys put your pups on a shoat? My pups are 4 months old and I believe I got 4-5 singled out as tree dogs, but they are all bay up fools . whatever make it will show out between puberty and maturity.  I don't want but 1-2 at one year but I swear these pups are hard to cull

3  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Got to thinking on: September 12, 2013, 09:26:20 pm
So....we post 100,000 troops on our Mexican and Canadian Borders....this could have stopped 9/11 right?

Lets put it in terms we can all understand.

Hogs are tearing up your cornfield. You have traps out but your not having any luck trapping them. You are pretty sure where they bed up at so your best bet is to send in the dogs.

come on now,you got to admit we had a little to do with the hogs spreading, and, hell , it' good entertainment to hunt them. Plus they eat good.  But as a North Carolinian they aint much I don't like about a hog. So to me  your comparison is pretty weak, I say let them rag heads fight it out amongst themselves, we got plenty of problems right here to worry about. When they come down here be time to fight again. Hell they can have Mexico and Canada, I'll throw in New England and California. You young boys might not see it, but that fight's coming, all 's needed is to figure out who we're fighting this time around.
4  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / cuts on: September 12, 2013, 06:40:25 am
I know this has probably been beat to death, but I couldn't find anything on it. So, how deep a cut can you staple, and call it done? and do you clean it up with a antiseptic, and maybe put some antibiotic on-in the wound first? I imagine deep cuts through muscle , to the bone or guts need a vet, or put the dog down. Want do yall do?
5  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Patterdales as squirrel dogs? on: August 25, 2013, 10:00:52 pm
Never owned a Patterdale but I'v had several rat terriers and JRT crosses. Mainly used them as jump dogs for rabbit hunting. I hunt and raise tree dogs now, I'm going to say the odds are against you, hard to find a tree dog out of ground dog stock.

RL my son just graduated this year, he gets his commission in December. He has loved planes and helicopters since he was old enough to run outside and look at them. He gets commissioned as a Second Lt. in the army, and is talking about switching to a Warrant Officer. I don't understand all the ins and outs of it but he is a good young man, and I back him up in his decisions. May God or fate or whatever we believe in watch over this generation.
