THE CLASSIFIEDS / THE DOG TRADE / LOOKING FOR HEAVILY STARTED STRIKE DOG
|
on: April 29, 2016, 03:20:59 pm

Looking for heavily started strike dog. Must show in woods with my collars on the dog or give 3 to 4 week trial. I don't need dog to be finished, but looking for something that works short range (300 - 500 yds), rough enough to stop a hog but lay back and bay when it sets down, not looking for anything catchy. Prefer a gyp but will consider male. Have a budget of $1000 and dog will need to impress for me to go that high. Can go slightly higher for a finished dog (to me that means they find hogs 100% of the time if they are in the area) that fits the same bill (short range, shuts down runner, and not catchy) Thanks. Contact me by cell (preferably text) at 512-921-0772 or email at phillipatomus@gmail.comNot looking to travel more than 3 hours from Austin area to see dog hunt.

Just another reason i dont do fb anymore. Every time a panty wearing bed wettin fella gets his feelins hurt, zuckerburg takes their side. I dont like zuckerburg anyway , he's all in for floodin the U.S. With illegals so he can have cheap labor , but he dont care that it just further hurts middle class by suppressing wages . Its nice to be able to keep up with relatives, bit it aint worth supporting zuckerburg & his liberal ideas to me
All for this lady. I have been happily trolling the dirty hippies on Facebook. However, Amokabs, I can't let this post go. I can't tell if your serious or trolling. 1) A CEO of a multibillion entity like Facebook has not personal involvement in these BS issues. He's busy helping to make billion dollar purchases and business decision. 2) If you think Facebook employs illegals you need to share your stash with the rest of us. It's Facebook, not your local McDonalds. I think the average salary of a Facebook employee is over 100K a year. I don't think that is suppressing wages. I just had to say something. Sorry

What are the things a dog owner should say or show in the event of a visit by animal control? Who should a dog owner contact for up to legal advice and representation? What are the tricks and schemes that animal control will use to scare an unprepared dog owner?
Like most people have said, I think as long as you are actually caring for your animals, there is nothing animal control can do. As with any LEO encounter, be polite, civil, and answer only direct questions with as little information as possible. If at any point you feel you're being cornered call your lawyer for advice. If your following the law there is nothing to worry about 99% of the time. As for 'busy bodies' the legislature needs to pass harsher 'harassment' laws so that people who are unduly harassed by people calling animal control can pursue criminal action. It is a fine line though. There are those people out there who are 'abusing' their animals and they need to have them taken away.

Looks like some kind of allergic reaction. First time anything like this?.
fixitlouie via tapatalk via droid
he rubbed a nice 1x1 inch patch of skin raw and it scabbed up after the first couple times I took him hunting outside the pen as a lead in catch dog. the patch was right where the leash attached to the vest and when he pulled was where it rubbed. taught him not to pull but looked nasty. nothing this serious before. although the last four times (in about a week period) he was out I had him off leash in the pen twice and on a hunt twice as RCD, he probably ran around more than ever with the vest on.

What's wrong with people is they are allowed to live.
Not being a tuff ass, but anyone who can think that doing that is okay is not someone I want living on the same planet as me.
Psychotic is psychotic and I don't want that in the same world as my kids, wife, or family.
People like that need to be put down. Just like any other animal.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Dogo -- Skin issues with vest
|
on: June 02, 2014, 08:43:12 pm

I've been hunting and training a lot more lately with my first (and only at this point) adult dog. I'm worried he's gotten either a bad case of some skin rash or an infection from the vest rubbing and or mosquito bites. Can't tell. If it doesn't clear up by the morning (at least all the raised bumps) I'm going to take him to the vet and make sure no infections. Appears to be just scabs. no puss or green discharge. no smell. no fever. In the pics you can see its basically the worst where his guardian straps go over his back and under his chin?? Any thoughts? Any remedies? Thanks

How about you take the time it's going take you to exercise them each week and put them in the woods and hunt them and let them exercise themselves.
Cant always get in the wood. Part of the problem. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk

HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Treadmills -- Sprints or slow and steady
|
on: May 29, 2014, 04:04:14 pm
|
So I went and got a $50 used treadmill to work out my dogs. I need to modify slightly for the dogs but I'm hoping it will work out great.
Question: I've read several recent reports/articles about how human athletes are starting to train for endurance by sprinting and resting in short spurts rather than just running for a long time at a slow/steady pace. IE run 100yds jog for 300, rinse and repeat and as you get more fit you can get to sprint 100 jog 100, rinse and repeat.
Has anyone found an effective, yet time efficient, manner to get dogs into better hunting shape on a treadmill. I will have 4 dogs soon and at 30 minutes per three times a week that's a lot of time I have to sit there making sure they don't hurt themselves. I was hoping to cut it to 15 per 3 times a week but have them sprinting more?
Any thoughts.
Thanks.

Looking for Garmin/Tri Tronic Trashbreaker, Garmin Delta, or similar training collar combos with both receiver and collars. I would like 2 collars but would consider a deal with just 1 if it's an easily found model. Will pay up to 66% of 'new' price if everything is in good working condition. I am also looking for an Astro 320 system with 2 DC40 collars. Willing to go as high as $600 for items in good working order. I would need all items in working order and charging devices available or I would need steeper discounts. Please email me if you have what I'm looking for at phillipatomus@gmail.comYou can also call or TEXT me at 512-921-0772. I usually will not answer a call if I don't recognize the number, but you can leave message if texting isn't an option. Thanks for your time.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: cops and dogs!

There are good LEO's and bad LEO's. The good ones that defend, and allow the bad ones to stay around, are 99% of the problem.
As for this article, it's complete crap. The deputy in question needs a beating plain and simple. Any grown man that has to shoot what looks like a 55 lbs dog is a 100% slang word for a cat.
This is happening way to often, cops are seldom charged or punished. Glad to see this one lost his job. No one that trigger happy should be allowed to own a gun.
I'd also like to know how the LEO's would have reacted if a suspect/citizen tried that excuse after shooting a police K9, "oooooh but i was scared it was going to attack me". when a situation doesn't apply both ways, that's called horsepoop.

THE CLASSIFIEDS / CLASSIFIED ADS / House Dogs -- Could be Hunting Dogs but don't take one for that

Hello, The family had an ooops pregnancy with my first hunting dog (dogo) and our house dog. My kids let her our when she was in heat at the same time the dogo was outside and bingo bango 1 minute later she was pregnant. Anyway. Here's what I posted on Craigslist (below) with some pics of Sire and Dam. But I'd rather give the puppies to folks on this site that I know will take care of their dogs, hunting or house dog. 512-921-0772 phillipatomus@gmail.comThanks. Pics are on Craigslist Link : http://austin.craigslist.org/for/4424504123.html"I have 6 puppies born April 3rd 2014. The sire is a 1yr old working Dogo Argentino (Argentine Mastiff) who weighs approximately 95 lbs. The Dam is a 3 year old shepherd/bulldog mix who weighs approximately 50 - 55lbs. (pics of both parents below and both are available for you to visit on site) The puppies consist of 4 males and 2 females. 4 are all white. 1(F) is all white with a black spot around one eye. 1(M) is mostly black with white markings. Please see pictures of puppies attached, or for more pictures/video please contact me. I am asking for a TRANSFERABLE DEPOSIT (explained in a bit) of $200 to hold any dog until it is between 7 and 8 weeks of age. I will either give you the $200 dollars back in the form of puppy food, toys, puppy pads etc., which you can give me a shopping list for and I'll supply receipt. Or if you prefer, I will make a donation to a local animal shelter or other charity of your choosing and provide you the receipt. I will also require that if you take one of these beautiful puppies into your home you sign an agreement with me stating that if you should ever decide the dog is not a good fit, you will first contact me and allow me to re-home the dog instead of it going to a shelter. Please text me at 512 - nine two one - 0772 or reply thru Craigslist to my email if you wish to discuss. Thank you. puppy, free puppy, dogo argentino, puppies, large dog "
