HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Any hog farmers out there

We have a domestic hog farm, most breeds come in heat only twice a year unless you let a heat pass. They usuallyhave anywhere from 8-12 pigs 12 being on the high side and then add in survival rate 2-3 dont make it. But there is a breed call the Chesterwhite that can be breed three times in a year without shots or aanything, the sow will start weaning and come in heat soon after the last pig has sucked. Also ive seen a sow have pigs and with a boar in the pen or next to her she will come right back in heat a day or so after giving birth but she wont allow the pigs to feed. So in the wild it is possible for three times a year , not sure of how many in a litter and how many will survive. Cause boars will eat young pigs too.

Well i have a pest control company, and we occasionally remove coons and squirrel from attics and things like that. So i think he thought it was fitting to pay me, plus ive trapped a lot of hogs out there. Ranch not too far from me takes me like 30mins to get there maybe $10-15 in diesel. I have asked him a few times to come out and hunt with us but he always say he's a farmer not a hunter. He 's one of those guys that would rather pay someone than do it himself. Not a bad thing in my case i guess, thanks guys for the input.

I hog hunt for fun and as a hobby, but ive been approached by a ranch owner to come hunt and remove hogs off his land. He wants to pay me for it, i told him i would do it for free but he insist on paying me for the service he calls it. If anyone does this as a business how much do you guys charge, or if anyone have any idea it would be appreciated.

We raise domestic hogs on the family farm, and from time to time a hog will get out they rarely run off too far. But if it takes us a while before we find them within weeks they start changing growing thicker hair longer teeth slimming up. Its amazing how fast they become feral, after being domesticated all their lives.

That's crazy I just got a couple of pups from a guy and that's what he fed them, and all day today they were eating grass I put food out but they just ate grass all day long I wonder is it because of them eating that. ive only had them a couple of days could still be in their systems.
