Oddly enough I recall seeing a post somewhere with a guy looking to buy a dogo for hunting birds and coons - you might have just what he's looking for lol

I use 25 chickens lol

Lmao I actually have a bunch of chickens running around. I even considered buying some of those stupid guinea fowl cuz they're supposed to be tick eatin fools but it's only the one dog I have issues with so I'm gonna hold off on that.

This is buddy. 7 months old in this pic. I've seen him straight catch on a 150# sow. The first time he ever saw a pig at about 12 weeks old he tried to get out of the pen. 2 nights later you couldn't keep him away from a pig. He's very gritty. Stay right in the pigs face and loves to put teeth on one. Hell catch any size pig as soon as the bulldog hits. He just recently started to trail his own but isn't consistent on range yet. He's just under a year old now and I'm pretty happy with the old boy.

Well at the end of the day that's all that matters and if saves a couple bucks that's even better
5  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Worming routines on: May 16, 2014, 04:15:08 pm
One cc per 4 lbs you wil have to give em the whole bottle lol

I'm not the argumentative type but the dosage for fenbendazole is 22.7mg/lb in dogs. So the 100mg/ml safeguard will treat about 4 lbs of dog per cc. A 50 lb dog would get about 12cc out of a 125ml bottle for 3 days or 36 cc total across the 3 days so you'd still have 89 cc left over. 1/10 cc per 10 pounds is more along ivomec dosage and would only be giving like 1 mg/lb of fenbendazole. If it works for you that's great but that's not enough in a typical scenario.

This the one you all speak of?
How many CC'S per pound? Do you follow goat chart?

Sonny

It's 1 cc per 4.4 pounds x 3 days. It's very safe so I usually give enough to worm 10 lbs over.

I only have the one dog that has a tick problem. The others don't have any. And I don't have any problems with fleas on any of the dogs. Just ticks on the one and so far nothing helps for more than a few days. Nexguard was one of the first things I tried because I heard it was supposed to be one of the best meds for ticks and the ticks would die off and after a few days I started finding em mounded up around his ears and inside his ears. Bunches of little brown ticks that didn't seem to mind the taste of nexguard. Maybe I should've gave it a couple more months or something but I think I've found something that'll work for me thanks to another member.

Facebook and Social Media is about the worst thing to happen to Hog Hunting. It is 100% illegal to put dogs in a pen on a hog in Florida. It has been since the mid 90's.  This is actually one of the ones not so bad. I have seen ones with 3 70# bulldogs "catching" a 20# shoat. Yet people feel the need to post it all over Facebook along with dogs cut all over.

The kid claims on Facebook " how else was I supposed to get a 80# barr out of the pen, just grab it?"

I am all for training dogs and I have a pen full of hogs. But if your gonna do something illegal you should know better than to put your name, address, video the activity then post it on the internet for the world to see!

X2. It's out of control now. It's bad enough that animal rights is calling it hog-dog fighting and then these kids go online and post videos of these huge dogs tearing a little shoat to shreds. Makes people that don't know any better think were savages

I haven't had any luck with nexguard and the collar worked but only for a couple of days and they started showing back up. I'm gonna give the ultra shield a try. I might give the garlic thing a try too. Can't hurt

That goat wormer works good I think it's safe guard

That's the safe guard I use too. I like it better than the paste. Do you give yours 3 days in a row or just once? I give mine for 3 days on the months I use it but some ppl I know just give it for one day.

I use safe guard suspension and pyrantel pamoate. I use the safe guard every third month and the pyrantel on all the other months. My dogs are off the ground so I could probably just worm every 6 months but it's not expensive to worm them and it keeps me at ease.

It seems like nothing I do is working this year. I have one dog that is ate up with ticks. Dog ticks and brown ticks. None of the others seem to have a problem. And fleas aren't a problem at all. Do y'all have any suggestions? At this point I'm bathing and picking ticks once a week and it's not helping. I need something that's gonna kill these daddy didn't marry mommys on contact.

What a heartbreaking story. I really hope this has a huge turn out and it's a great thing you're doing. I'm with T.R. on this one tho, I'm from florida and obviously can't participate but if it were in my area id pay the entry just to have an excuse to take my sorry mutts for a nature walk and donate to a good cause. You should set up a paypal or something so people can make donations. Maybe some local media coverage about the benefit tourney and some info on how to make a donation could give a boost to this families cause. I wish them the best of luck and will keep them in my prayers. I'll be checking back for donation info too.

I would suggest an update. I assume you're running 30's or 40's? Even if it's the 50's if they're used maybe the software is out of date. I've never had that problem so I don't know for sure but hopefully it helps.

Add my vote to the worth it list. I love mine and I know ppl with the dc 30's that like em but I know quite a few ppl that traded their 40's for 30's or upgraded to the 50's. I only had one problem with mine not acquiring satellite signal and other than that I've had zero problems with em. No lost signal or anything yet.

As in the collar won't acquire signal? I had it happen once and it wouldn't pick up signal. I deleted it from the handheld and added it back and it picked up right away. Might give that a try. Can't guarantee it'll help but it wouldn't hurt to try.

U aren't the first not will u be the last with this same experience. I take mine to a pen time to time when for one reason or another I can't run. I don't go on big money night but on $10 nights I take a few and have fun. I never win but my lil girl has fun, wife enjoys it, and I get to shoot the crap with a bunch of folks. Good night out with the family is worth $50 to me.

Good looking dogs and pups. Keep us updated on their progress. I have a gsp female I use for hogs and she's got crazy drive and gritty as all hell. She'll be coming into heat soon and I'm pretty excited to get some pups from her.

The way I understood it was the gov told the man his cows couldn't graze on public land without paying grazing fees or something like that. I like that everyone is so passionate about fighting for what's theirs, and if the land belonged to this man I would understand everyone's reaction. But I never saw where they tried to take the mans property or anything. Now granted, I don't see what business it is of the governments as to where his cows graze. That would seem to me like more of a state or local issue. Just my thoughts on it from what I understand of it. Hope everyone has a good weekend
