Any one used any full blood English coonhound on hogs?

5yr old male, 4yr old female, put them in fresh sign they’ll find hogs, male can get rough at times, male is full cur, female is 3/4 cur 1/4 birddog, they are half brother and sister same daddy, nothing I can really say spectacular about them they are nothing flashy just decent dogs, these 2 just don’t fit in with the rest of my pack. $500 for the pair. I'm not disputing any logic at all, I've had lots of full blooded dogs that were great, just curious bout what others have seen from the different ways they've made some crosses that's all, I have six black & brindle registered cats that are my cowdogs they are full blood and are great at what they do

Pwilson_10 We had some back 8-9 yr ago that wer triggX1/2 cur 1/2 pit they were pretty good but none of them lasted to long, I think we had 1 that made it to 3 yr old, they were hell wile they was here thou! I would like to start by saying I am not a genetic engineer, I am a dogman/cowboy/observative person, I've read many of these breeding debates over the years on this forum, and I would like to not see this post turn in to a big genetic debate! With that being said, let's kick it off. Most every 1 on here at 1 time or another probly had some ol man say look at that dog there look at the way he's put together, that's what your looking for or a heifer or a bull or a using horse etc. that is we're I'm going with this no scientific reasoning just old tried and true having the eye for what you want and how to make it. Example: F1 Braford cattle, technically you can put a bramer bull over herford cows or a herford bull over bramer cows and have the same product. But to me the herford bull over bramer cows is the way to go! To me they are just better than the other way, others may not agree debate is not what I'm interested in, yaws personal observations and experiences is what I'm interested in hearing about. The last couple of years I've been paying attention to a lot of different folk's plott/black mouth crosses and I own several myself at this time, if you pay attention to my handle on this board I've never been glued to a specific breed, I'm personally more concerned with getting the job done than purebred this or that, but I've taken a shine to this cross and am interested in what others have observed and experienced with this cross. Like for example: do you have better luck with using a plott male over yella bitch or yella male over plott bitch, another example: wright cur male over a Pocahontas plott bitch was the ticket for you worked out just like you wanted, or a weems plott male over a Ladner bitch? That's were I'm going with this what some of yaw would like to contribute with your experiences and observations? Currently I have a very good young male that is an old east Texas tight bred line of yella dog male over a Pocahontas bear bred bitch, I like him! I like him a lot! The man that bred the litter he likes them a lot, fact is, mine is the only 1 that left his yard! And he's tried a dozen times to buy him back! LOL mine he's built right, he hunts hard, and best of all he ain't suicidal, he thinks about what he's doing, handles good to very seldom do I ever leash him. Well I hope this turns in to a good conversation, I've been gona write this for a wile but most the time I get side tracked, so here goes I'm anxious to here just some good ol boy logic. Little history on the bitch, on the top side very tight line bred east tx cur dogs, on the bottom a F1 cross from a tight line bred east tx cur over line bred elhew pointer,  the cur line on bottom is not the same as top. That being said I know that tight line bred dogs tend to start having bitches show up that won't cycle, but this is a F2 cross, hybrid vigor should have kicked back in. The bitch I'm discussing is not masculine built so I don't think there is a hormone issue, but she is a waspy built hi metabolism type dog, getting her fat is impossible. Been raising hunting dogs for 40 years, done every trick I've ever witnessed, none of them have worked, if anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts. Made the first breeding didn't get but 4 pups in this bitch's litter, she was the only bitch, 1 dog didn't make it out of puppyhood, 1dog got killed by hog as a yearlin, the last dog is turning in to a sho nuf gudn, this bitch is possibly gona b 1 of those exceptional females that just come along ever so often, that being said the sample that I'm observing is spot on, doing what we set out to do, but the next step is not possible if I can't get her to breed!

It's strange "I" think when people question barring hogs, for some of us it goes back to when we was kids and we were brought up as just a normal everyday thing, not out to offend anyone, I realize some folks have what they feel is a "hog" problem! But in the words of my 14 year old Woodrow, daddy there ain't nufn n this world like catchn a good ol barr! LOL
