Not my hog by any means but got killed on my land when I was only in the 6th or 7th grade. Brother and I saw him going to school eating out of the feed bunks with a bunch of steers he took off running and busted the bottom wire on our fence. I called my pops and he called the Holubs. I remember coming home from school stopping on the side of the road hearing dogs baying and a lot of grunting. About 10 minutes later my dad came out of the woods with Clayton and Cullen Holub dragging this big SOB behind our four wheeler. And so began my love affair with hog doggin. Weighed 464 I'm sure some of y'all remember this boar hog ![](http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160422/6c03e02369b9615fea9ce3d47203b7a6.jpg) Cullen, Clayton, and James Holub and my old man on the right. Me and Slim9797 brought home two fullblood Cat pups from my cousin today. Supposed to have come from a badass cowdog sire. They are 8 weeks old and look pretty solid and bigger framed. Anybody had some good dogs come from Cathoula cow dog stock? How big do you think they'll be full grown? ![](http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160303/153667db223ea7ebf3f351638a78ee0d.jpg) I'll post some full body pics when I get some Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In the case of it being a skinner you shouldn't have much of a problem! I'll post some pics of spike skinners I've made.

The reason I put emphasis on the STABBING part is that I'd like to warn you in advance that railroad spikes are very hard to draw out to make length and depth of the blade, and still have space left for a right sized handle, drawing the metal out too far makes the metal thinner this easier to snap in half, the thinner the blade for a stabbing knife the more careful you have to be with heat treating and tempering, leave the blade too hard and it'll snap if bent, too soft and it won't hold a good enough edge. Pm me if you have any questions id be glad to help in any way I can!

As Slim said my brother fabricates some awesome knives whereas I've actually gotten into hand forging blades. Here are two blades I've made. The top one is an old metal punch and the bottom is a file. ![](http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160222/b9b741792c9b66302916265123c6c8ca.jpg) Alpha Are you planning on making a pig STABBING knife with those spikes? I will with the right offer. I can make more dogs.

Any dog can bay a hog every once in awhile, but a HOG DOG makes hogs when other dogs couldn't find their tail. Them kinda dogs you don't make often, you are just their ride to the woods! Although I've only owned my own dogs for just over a year, I've hunted since I was 12, and I'd have to agree with both statements. Blastin your right there are strike dogs out there that'll find their own hog and bay the hair off their back, but just ain't nothing special. And BA-IV I think you're right too cause every hog hunter has seen their fair share of "legends" in either your own yard or on a friends. I personally have only seen 3 but your remark on the owners just being their ride to the woods is spot on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
