Finally broke our little dry streak last night and got some year olds started. Idk if the sow would’ve made it through winter she was pretty poor. I roaded them to a dead end around the lake with my brother. Who had broke his leg last Friday. He stayed in the truck while I walked them to the water. Bobby my 3 yo cur July and brownie 2.0 a year old cut some circles and went a couple hundred yards. It went for the water and they caught it. Brownies 2.0 brother peanut went out with the cd willow (they’re great great grandma) and caught with them. She was better than nothing, hate she is going to waste

We’re still here hanging by a thread. I’ve always enjoyed this forum I hope it’s around awhile. Reminds me of the conversations I’d have with the old heads I used to hunt with. Between training deer dog pups, keeping a squirrel dog in shape, and running hogs the world keeps spinning faster

Thanks for all the replies and sorry guys for the late response. I wanted to take my time with replying. And it ended up taking months lol. I don’t want to seem as if I’m making excuses for them. I’ve caught hogs on somewhat a regular basis with these same young dogs. I myself am still learning. Finally starting to learn how to read dirt and understanding scenting conditions. Learning how to get my hand off the tone button when they’re running and it atarts looking deerish. Or just learning to give them time to work it. I guess I was just venting. Realistically other than a couple of hard local doggers no one probably Gives a number 2 about them core land hogs more than I do haha. I’m gonna keep hunting them and hope for the better. It may be bad advice but I think I want to bay pen my 3 year olds. Just because I know ive shocked them off hogs before for various reasons. Never real hard but they got to be thinking I’m an idiot. I feel like they took the extra gear out their bag and tossed it. Deer coyotes hogs used to have to grab their tail when they ran so I’mit wouldn’t get jerked. Right now my 3 yo are a 3/4 cur 1/4 pit and several brother and sister cur Julys. The July crosses I can always get another cast out of and the want to run something is bred deep deep in there.

lol I’m training piglets from birth. I’m still trying to find that happy medium between to much nose and not enough in the right chassis And the grit too. I ain’t got enough of it but in three and they’re basically rcds I hardly use. Seems like we used to bay sounders more but I had older dogs then too. I kinda suspect one of my dogs braking bays for the chase

I’m sure everyone has dealt with something similar after they’ve hunted a spot for years and years. The hogs start changing and eventually the dogs will have to too. I was wondering all the different ways one could’ve went about it to keep their dogs on the game they’re pursuing. If there was a dog down the road that gotten bred in and that’s when things started changing or did you have to start fresh with a new line. Here’s some pups off my slick and flash dog. A creation to help me with the pressured hogs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Already have a lot less swelling using apple cider vinegar as a cleanser while it was swollen shut and the probiotics he readily eats first. I also been washing him in two different types of shampoo one with the same active ingredients as the Monastat. I think conkeys sent me a extra couple collars the lasts order and he’s wearing a bright green 1 1/2 inch one with a plate. Sitting nice. I put him on top of the box after a long time since and he did something similar. while taking the young running walkers out just to run he rigged on a wma in Arkansas. There was sign all up the road and behind us. my heart felt like 14000 butterflies when my pups put there nose down and cut left in a line! Whatever they smelt must’ve been right there. The water line wasn’t very far off because sulphur is so high. They all started barking into the woods. I wouldn’t doubt if there would’ve been a hog right there. But legally I had to keep going. And I having possum (he’s basically 3 legged) I would’ve set myself up for failure probably he didn’t have tracking collar. I’m having hog withdrawals so it was bad not to hoop them up.

I have been battling a problem with my dog possums ears for awhile now. I’ve taken him the vet once or twice and the medicines never worked. Only solution I can find is monastat 7. And it’ll knock it down for a week or two and it’s back. His ears become swollen shut and I can tell his miserable. Feeding hi point black bag. Any remedies

I’ve noticed that before two Cajun especially the biggers ones. Sometimes I think they’re dumb for letting my hound trail them to a bed and bay but when they start running and never stop I quickly change my opinion haha.

Does anyone in north east Texas recall a Richard hammonds? I believe he’s passed away, I used to have a cur dog that came from his yard. If my memory serves me right that is his name.

I know that’s right. it’s been my dream since I went with my cousin a few times when I was in elementary. I didn’t get to get any hunting dogs until I was about 21 when I moved out of town. I have literally scoured this site for years and I’m just thankful to finally be able to have hounds of my own and get to work with them. I’ve learned a lot of here.

I’ve thought about starting young dogs in a running pen. What kind of game is in the pen your using?
